my synth parts are doing something weird

lets say i want to record 3 synth notes on my emx. the progression of the numbered keys goes from 12 - 5 - 3. but when i play it back the notes sound like "11 - 4 - 2". all the notes are lowered by one. what did i do to deserve this?

Switch off the record button as it is playing. Surely it continues to play what you have recorded.
