Footswitch Issue

I use a guitar channel select switch as a footswitch for my Extreme, it looks something like this

Image

I use it to advance the combi by one, for playing live so i don't have to stop playing to change combi. It works fine, except i have to actually press the switch twice for it to function, e.g. pressing it twice will advance the combi by one. I think this has something to do with it being a 2-way channel selector, therefore effectively an on-off switch. Is there any way to change this within the Triton, or is it something that's hard-wired into the electrics of the footswitch?

Also if there is no solution to this problem, can anyone recommend me a footswitch which will work the way i'd like it to, or maybe even something with two or more switches which i could use as up/down?

Thanks,
Elliot

hmm, dont know if this will help, but most of the footswitch functions have 2 selections, toggle and momentary. try a different setting there.

You need a momentry footswitch pedal.... you are right in assuming it is an on/off switch, hence you have to press it twice. press once switches on, press again switches off! prss again... its on, hence the 2 pushes required to make a contact.

A momentary switch makes 1 contact with each push.

You can buy any generic pedal to do the job from most electrical stores such as Maplins, most music stores, or Korg even!...

Hope that helps.

I bought a momentary footswitch from Maplin and it works perfectly, thank you :) All i need to do now is build a small battery powered LED so i can see it when i'm onstage...

Hi, seems you are using a guitar switch, which is indeed a on/off switch as opposed to a foot on (on) foot off (off) switch, which is what you need. these are generic switches available from many suppliers. i dont have time to look for you, but you can just look for what is termed a "momentary" foot switch, and not a "latching" footswitch.

Korg website will enable you to select a suitable type for your Triton, if you are not sure about buying an unsuitable type.

Regarding selecting the type of switch within your triton settings, you can select "polarity" which is for volume or expression pedals. These contain resistive potentiometers and not switches. The settings for polarity in the triton merely tell the triton which way the potentiometer is wired, as pedals vary between manufacturers. However, some pedals have a polarity switch on them + or - usually, this is why the setting is in the triton to accomodate those that do not have such a switch.

Hope that clears things up.... get a "momentary" foot switch
