is ther any way to assign the spdif master volume. i would really love to use optical output, but i need a master volume control other than on the laptop. any alternate/future OS upgrades that would enable this? also would be nice to have more than just l/r, to run a click trhu a different channel e.g.
thx,
L

you can assign one of the 4 real-time control knobs to "master volume".

yes but wouldnt that require going thru every single patch 1 at a time?

nope. master volume acts like a master fader. it's also great way to do fade ins and fade outs.

i'd like to give that a shot. excuse my ineptness on this, but where do you set that parameter? i looked in global/contoller page, and there are just footswitch settings.

hmm, well i'm wanting to use this for combis live, and it looks like i would have to go thru each patch individually and set that parameter. which would take forever. thx for the help though.

Yes, this works. "Realtime Control Knobs B-Assign" is available in sequencer, program, and combination modes.
A good convention one could adopt would be to assign Knob 1-B to Master Volume. Then you can control the digital output volume for those sequences, programs, and combis where you have saved this edit.
But yes I agree another missed opportunity for a simple but useful feature addition - a Global menu check box:
√ Master Volume modifies SPDIF output
