This month provided lots of inspiration - as opposed to last months dry spell. I actually ventured out into new territory and wrote lyrics. That's the good news. The bad news is I can't sing - I can't even intone good enough. So it is unfinished until I resolve the singing part.
The bass is real - everything else is M3. It is a silly little tune that was fun to make.

well, now you know why i just belt out the words and let the chips fly, when I have words I want them heard! I love the playfulness here and the timing changes. I know you've been talking about timing changes. These are a bit jazzy I'd say. It's like jazzy boogie woogie. Is that a cool delay I'm hearing? It's a bit Peter Gunn in parts. It's nice and open and clean sounding.

This a cool song...WHERE ARE THE VOCS? Do it man! This is such a great backdrop, and I can only imagine what it might do vocally...
Once you get a mix with vocals it might be a good idea to visit where the cymbals are on the drum kit. I could here them coming forward a bit, but without vocals that is hard to tell.
Good stuff here! You and I need to get on the ball and finish our stuff up!

Yeah, this is cool, but need the vocals!
You've heard me sing, that's what I called it anyway, so if I can embarrass myself, you need not fear, just belt it out.

Wow!!
This "instable" timing make the groove even more interesting!
You got me on this one!

George - I need to train my voice man - it is bad - very bad! The timing changes are all driven by the vocals. In fact, the whole tune is. You just can't hear the vocals yet. But I didn't do any quantizing .... just winged it. It did take a few attempts to get the shift correct - where I could sing and play it through. There is no intentional relation to Peter Gunn.
Jon - Yes - I stopped with the cymbals as I realized I needed a more complete vocal track - which I haven't been able to achieve, yet.
Stephen - If I just belted it out, you would all run for the hills!
Diego - I think the vocals will help - if I can manage to do it.

Wow Art, what is this!
Wicked timing and sounds/arrangement.
Like 'we are detective' meets Frank Zappa, I just know this has some mad lyrics, can't wait.
Cheers Simon

Hey Art! Nice timing things. I couldn't do that if my life depended on it. I would love to have heard you sing on this.

If you 'really' feel you couldn't you could add a little sample thingy in there sparsely just to have a vocal bit. You could even record it yourself. Still, very cool piece as it is.

hi chordial: Frank Zappa meets private detective - yes, especially if you get to hear the lyrics! I haven't given up on trying to sing it, but ....
hi susan: yes, if I end up totally baggin' the vocals, I'll have to do something else .... not sure what as I don't want to really go that route. But it might be a while b4 I can get vocals on it.

Hi Art,
What a neat sound! Love the attacky-like Organ sounds... This sound should fit O.K. with George.....; maybe you could get him to sing a few lines here..(

)
The bass does well....but seemed to not quite support the percussion as it might... Otherwise...A great tune!!!
Thanks for letting us hear this one!
My Best! John (ellll)

Hi ellll - What do you mean that the bass doesn't support the percussion?

Hi Again Art,
I really don't think that is what I meant....it was a matter, (very minor ) for me, that I wanted to hear some half notes at lower pitch on the bass at times when the drums were playing the rhythm you used on them for the basic beat.... so I really should have said, more variatio0n and low notes in the bass...
HOWEVER.., it was likely not your thinking, and was only my feeling, so don't put too much into it; Just wanted some more drone in the bass at times....
Regards! John (ellll)
