Vocoder Not Working with EXB-Radias

I posed this question to support@korgusa.com this morning, but maybe one of you can help:
I have an M3 Workstation with a brand new EXB-RADIAS board installed. The sounds from bank INT-F work fine, but...
I am reading on top of page 6 of the EXB-RADIAS manual, under Vocoder Programs, the procedure for testing the vocoder function. I get no sound when I use this procedure.
I am using the following hardware:
MXL 990 condensor mic
Standard XLR cable connected to mic
Because the M3 audio input is a 1/4" female connection and the standard mic cable is a male XLR, I have connected a Planet Waves Signal 1/4" Male Stereo-to-XLR female adapter to the other end of the XLR cable coming from the mic.
Is this connection or the condensor mic itself the problem or is the documentation incorrect?
Thanks!
Alan

Do you press any Keys on the board when you use the Vocoder? It might be that.

The M3 provides no phantom power. Try an inexpensive dynamic cardioid mic for vocorder apps.

I tried that. Still did not work.
I think the second reply might be the problem.
Thanks for you input.

That's what I thought. How about I plug the same mic into my PreSonus FP10 instead and turn on the phantom 48V on the FP10 and route the FP10's output to the M3?
Would that work?

Should work with the ext. pre yes. Just watch out for that hot input into the M3. I think there is a line/mic switch on the M3 input?

also, i noticed that i only get my voice to come thru the vocoder when my mic is plugged in the unput 2 spot, not the 1, it's just set up that way by default i guess, but i just plugged in there and began to speak and play the keys and it worked perfectly without changing anything

What kind of mic do you have (the one that worked with the vocoder)?
Still does not work

Well, I dropped $100.00 on a Shure SM58 dynamic mic and it still does not work.
I tested the mic with and without the XLR-to-1/4" TRS adapter in Live 7 thru my PreSonus interface and the mic works.
Anybody got a clue where I am going wrong?
In step 6 it says, "The optimum input level is a point slightly below the level where the "ADC OVER!" indication appears."
Where do I look for this message? It never appears on the Touch View screen. This tells me the signal from the mic is not getting to the M3.

First of all I would say, can you record a sample of your voice thru one of your mics without the vocoder to make sure you are receiving the signal from the mic to your M3. If so, then it has nothing to do with the mic or the audio in. Then I would simply go to a program that is already pre-setup for vocoder, plug the mic into input 2 and play and speak. This is all I did and I was amazed how instantly it worked without any tweaking. Now if you are trying to use this vocoder in other modes, such as sequence mode, then that is a bit more challenging.

I will have to read the OG to determine how to record a sample. Thanks.
By the way, when I boot the M3, it tells me the EXB-Radias is V1.0. Could that be a problem?

Be sure that the mic /audio input is routed to FX Control bus 1 or 2... Then you can set that to be the modulator source for the Vocoder.

English please.
Please give me a little more detail (something other than RTFM, because I did that and using the stepwise procedure therein did not produce any output I could hear.)

It was in English, it was just wrong - sorry about that!
I was leading you into how to deal with this in a Combi and that was not needed. Look at Program F-125 - that's a basic Vocoder using a direct mic connected to an audio input. Is that not working for you?
