Korg lied to me!!!

I am so pissed off at Korg right now I am seriously considering never buying anything from them again as hard as that may be! My ESX blew a fuse so I called up Korg and I told them what was going on and they were like "yea thats whats wrong" and told me I had 2 choices send it to them or take it to an dealer they knew to fix it. I then asked the guy if it would cost me anything cause I read about a lot of people having the same issue with Korg putting too small a fuse in and he said NO just bring it to so and so, I had a show the following week so I brought it to the dealer. Dealer calls me back and says this is not correct and I need to pay for it. I call Korg back and the woman there has never heard of this problem before, never heard of this forum and basically says I am full of s**t! The whole time she has an attitude with me and says its not true! I REALLY am thinking about ending my purchasing of Korg gear in the future cause I am so offended about this. I have a friend and she had a very similar problem with them not paying too for the same fuse. Anyway I just wanted to let others here know how Korg just f***ed me over this Christmas!

Whoah! Slow down turbo. First of all, this repair should be done for free at a korg certified service dealer. It's not korg's fault, it's the place you went to. It seems that they did not even get a hold of korg and decided to deal with it on their own. Call them and insist that it's a common electribe problem and that korg is obligated to pay for it.

Good luck.

Did you even read what I wrote "turbo" I called korg and they sent me to the authorised dealer which I went to and I DID call korg and they said they hadnt heard of the problem before and said they would not pay to fix it. Korg f*ck*ng lied to me and acted like they had no damn idea about what happened to my electribe saying they had not heard of the issue and said I had to pay for it not the dealer. And they did the same thing to my friend too her when her electribe blew a fuse too so this is not an isolated instance and is BS on korgs part and I am not going to forget about this when time comes for my next purchase.

I'm so sorry to hear about this

It does sound like you have been speaking to the wrong people at Korg or caught somebody at at bad time but this is not a very good excuse. I would be angry too like you but take a step back and try again. I'm sure this is not how Korg INC would want their customers to feel. Give them another chance to put it right, try emailing rather than calling as you will be able to make you point very clearly with out being interupted. Good luck mate

I did try calling back and the same thing happened. Have they fixed one for you cause They sure didnt pay to get mine or my friend Caitlins fixed that is why I am on here saying this because I am shocked at how they handled this and would have thought they wouldnt do that. I already paid to get it out cause I had a show and needed it and called 2 times talking to 2 different people with the same end results. Plus they did the same thing to my friend too. This is what happened.

I did read what you said, authorized dealer is not the same as a certified service center. A certified service center will call korg upon getting the machine, will get the schematics along with other stuff like calibration cables and a service manual. This is the point where korg would tell them that this repair will be covered by korg because it is korg's screw up.

If the person you talked to after had no idea what you were talking about, talk to someone else, move higher up.

Are you in US or elsewhere? Because in US this is a fact. I have done it with no problem, and also this guy named novatron on here has done it.

I know you're sore right now, but I have to ask. . .

Did you get the name of the first person you talked to? Get back in touch with THAT person. and give that contact information to the service center as well. Always get the name/ID/direct phone number of the person who authorized something like that.

Also, remember most of the folks that are first line tech support are simply reading a computer screen that prompts them with what to say. They usually work for more than one company/department, and really don't know anything about the issues of a particular product line. The person who said they never heard of it before, probably wasn't lying, but they're not in a position to hear about it either, and they are NOT techs. You have to explain to them why you need to talk to a real tech specialist, and do it calmly. Dealing with them is frustrating, but about 90% of call issues are actually solved by them reading the manual over the phone to someone who is too lazy to do it themselves. They deal with idiots all day, and tend to treat people that way. Once they realize you fall in the other 10% though, you'll be able to get up to higher level support, and someone who might actually know about the issue.

I do hope you try again, and can get to a level where you can get a reimbursement or something. I've also had the fuse issue repaired (on a 3 year old unit way out of warrantee), so I know it can be done. Remember to keep calm. If you get frustrated on the phone with them, they get defensive and then they're much less likely to try to help you.

Good luck,

someone should call korg and see if they get the same service for the same issue

I'm in the UK and the service policy is different from the US due to the size of the markets. I've not had a problem myself but I know the guys over here are pretty good and sympathetic. I've had my EMX for quite a few years and hasn't suffered any failure. The only failure I've ever heard of is like yours but quite rare. In a way if the only part that fails is a fuse I'd rather that than a CPU or DSP, that way it's much cheaper to fix and once changed should be ok. Get names as suggested otherwise it will be impossible to make people accountable for incorrect info. Good luck again

actually all units produced in the first I think two or three years have a fuse that had a wrong rating. It's a very common problem, happens all the time.

It is a very common problem. I've had it happen, my friend novatron has had it happen at least once. On here this is one of the most common topics there's even at DIY article on how to fix it.

Let me help clarify this situation:

There were some faulty fuses during the initial first year of production only, this was in 2003 into early 2004. Then the design was changed and has not been a problem in newly produced units since that time.

Around that time and following later we helped out customers who had a problem, but there was never a world-wide Korg Inc. policy for ongoing free replacement/warranty coverage. So it is in the judgment of each Korg Distributor to determine whether an issue is related to this and if they choose to extend special treatment/handling.

Regards,

Jerry

Obviously they did not think my fuse was their problem. They were VERY rude to me on the phone when I called back to find out why they lied to me in the first place. Let me ask you something Jerry why the f*ck did they say they were going to fix it for free , told me where to bring it to get fixed then refused? Last time I buy anything from Korg. I am serious about this I dont like being lied to and then told that it didnt happen. I am done with your products and I mean it. Anyone else have any brilliant ideas why they did this now?

Special treatment should be required for an issue that is Korgs fault in the first place. I really hope not backing your product and then telling me that Korg customer service had no idea this issue was going on and then the supervisor I asked for got on the phone and said the same and they would NEVER have said they would fix it basically saying I lied. Seriously I hope saving the 52 bucks is worth me never buying another f*ck*ng Korg item again. Heres what I bought so far:
Radias
ErmkII
EamkII
Esx
Emx
Kp3
Kp2
kaossilator
minikp
kontroll49
k25
AND NOTHING AGAIN!
Goodbye Jerry

If you come to immediate opinions of people based on one or two lowly phone jockeys, throw around the word f*ck on the phone like you have since your first post, or even remotely present yourself as you have in this entire thread.. I wouldn't have made any attempt to help you either, forget any possibility of any special arrangement or exception. If this is how you approach anything in life you'll always get the short end of the stick. And for someone that has supposedly spent around 10k on Korg gear alone, you sure are a whiney bitch about 52 dollars.. at least it was fixed (and cheaply i might add.. synth repair shops are usually way overpriced.. if it was the shop i goto i would at least have an additional 75$'s added to it for the hourly charge).
