January OSAM Stephen

Post by Stephen »

Several weeks ago I wrote a blues song, and a friend said I should do " some more blues", so I did, and this is the song.
I wanted to have lyrics, and sing it, but I sing so badly, it bumbs me out, so here's an instrumental blues piece, with the Les Paul, and the M3 featured.

Back again. Hey, listening to the chords in the chorus I guess, after the 1 min mark. Cool changeups. Do you ever play bass on the guitar? I like this of course the way it is, I am curious though how it would work with a walking bass track. This style usually calls for that. Hey, that lead note goes really high, but it keeps the tone just right. You are a maestro on that guitar, Stephen. Very nice.

I do have a bass here in the studio, and I have done a little bass work in the past, but I'm a bit clunky on those big strings, and have very poor technique, so I much prefer the keyboard bass.
That is, unless our own Dr Who gets involved, as he has on a couple of my tunes, then... that's a very different story.

Thanks George.

Well I don't hear a walking bass line here. Very reminiscent of a ZZTop tune (and a zillion other unknowns).

I like the trade-offs between the guitar and the organ. You are good at using the organ in your tunes :)

Of course da guitar is sweet - glad you got the Les - there are some nice maneuvers in there man! Now I need to get back to that Jazz screamer of mine that i didn't finish and finish it. Of course, I need to work on my Jan. tune first as we are 1 week down!

That's the most difficult thing about writing Blues tunes, trying to be original!
What can you do, that hasn't been done?

Thanks for the comments, and...the bass line you sent.

Another track I could listen to all day, although all night would be better.

Love the lead work again Stephen, so much variety and interesting things happening.

Great stuff :)

Cheers Simon
