My M50 patch for Shine on you Crazy Diamond ;)

Post by klarnet basowy »

Here you can listen to the brief mp3:

http://www.webalice.it/amartignano/shinedemoKorgM50.mp3

It is done with a single combination.

For the pad I used a layer of three presets sounds, plus the "bells" taken using only OSC2 from the daydream piano program.

The "effects" and the lead were programmed from init programs using analog waveform samples (aka using the M50 as a virtual analog subtractive synth).

I think it sounds quite good, although a lot improveable ;)

Thanks :D
Posting the combi+programs? We will see... ;)

I think M50/M3 can sound quite good in classic synth emulation, although not in the presets... one have to program sounds but... this is the fun of the synths :)

I agree, it is the fun part... If you totally understand how the filters/envelopes then where to chain the effects.
That's the part I'm trying to really learn currently.

Obviously you have extensive experience with synths in general, something I really lack. I haven't really messed with synths since the mid 80s. Needless to say, things have changed a little!

YOur tunes on myspace sound good for synth only music..

You can play keys in my band! Just move to the USA, Cleveland Ohio!

Eh eh, ok, I will see if I can come to USA ;)
I play mainly Korg synths since... 1998 I think, so I'm not so experienced I think.
If you played synths in the '80 I think you can manage Korg engine well, because it is a quite "simple" (in terms of logic of the sound processing) subtractive synth.
I think I have a lot to discover of the possibilties of the M50 engine, especially in AMS routing.
The next step will be to master a Kurz VAST engine, a "little bit" more complicated...

The Combi and Prog can be found here: follow the link to youtube in the Scrap's message, and then follow the link to the patch.

I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd and I think that Scrap's version is more perfect , near perfection (even if Klarnet have made a good job too);
just listen his performance on youtube.
His Combi/prog is a must have!

Thanks to you Scrap!

:?: :?:

I can't stand the quality of the M50-61 keybed (maybe a matter of taste, maybe not) and I needed something more in the synth capabilities. So I've sold it and I've bought the Kurz. Not regret until now (and sincerely I don't see a reason for regretting in the future), except I miss some Korg synth sounds, but this problem can be easily and "cheaply" solved in a near future.
I still remain a Korg sound lover, but I have problem with the build feel and "philosophy" of the last Korg workstations.
