Microkorg Soundeditor trouble.

Ok, first off, I'm new to this forum. Hi!
Now, back on topic. I've got a microkorg, and it's hooked up to an M-Audio Audiophile 2496. I'm running Vista SPI 32-bit, got the proper drivers for everything, cables are hooked up right, set the microkorg's write protection off, and it's set to E-E just like the soundeditor's help file says, but when I try to run the soundeditor, it gives me the following error:
ERROR: Can't Receive MIDI Message from the Device
I've tried googling this, and checks some other threads here, but my search was fruitless.
Anyone have any idea what's going on, or how to fix it?
Thanks!

Goto Setting | Midi Devices.
Pick the midi ports associated with the midi interface that's hooked up to the Microkorg.
If you don't see any midi interfaces, then your midi drivers aren't working correctly.

Probably should have mentioned that in my original post, but those are already selected.

I'm having a similar issue with the maudio firewire 410.. everything is set up right, setting on the mK are correct.. but when I try to send or receive programs they show up blank.
I'm going to see if I can track down a cheap usb/midi uno or something and see if it makes a difference.

I still haven't been able to get this working. I have since replaced my whole computer basically, and am now running Windows 7 Professional. My sound card is the same, but MIDI works fine for everything else. I've got my midi device selected under settings. When I first load up the program, I see the microKorg icon. It detects it perfectly fine, but when I try double clicking on it, it gives me the error I posted in the first post. Does anyone know what's wrong?
Edit: To clarify what I meant by "everything else", I do not have another Synthesizer or anything. I mean other programs can use midi just fine with my microkorg.

i can only think of a really basic thing which is, connect the midi before you start the audio/editor program. if you're still having issues even do it when the computer is off, then start up the computer... but you probably already knew this.

Yeah, none of those are the issue. Thanks anyway, though.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem - windows 7 home, Audiophile 2496 soundcard - latest drivers for Win7 from their website. I get the same 'ERROR: Can't Receive MIDI Message from the Device' message from the editor. MIDI works fine on Ableton and Fruityloops (IN and OUT).
I've tried running the editor software in all the different compatibility modes, but no luck.
Have you had any joy in solving the problem?

Nope.
Anyone know if the mK XL editor works with the originaly mK?

It won't work. They are completely different synths with different sets of parameters.

I thought that would be the case.

Have you tried contacting your KORG distributor directly for support?

Nope. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that either. Do you mean where I bought it from?

It depends on what country you are in.
In the US, you can contact KORG USA through their website. As you can with KORG UK at korg.co.uk
There is a comprehensive list here:
