Hi,
I recently bought an R3, and I've been happy so far with a lot of the factory patches and ability to edit to taste etc...
However, I'm wondering if there's a way I can get rid of the patches I consider too cheesy to ever use and transfer downloaded patches from other synths (eg. Nord Lead 2x) and dump and save them on to the R3?
Fisrt of all, is this at all possible? And what would be the best way of dumping the files on to the R3?
And what issues are there with different file types between synth software and compatibilty of patches?
Thanks
Saving external patches onto R3?

You can replace any patch with a different one.
The different ones can only be other R3 patches.
You can't transfer patches between synths of different types.
You can't load a Nord Lead patch on an R3. That's only fair because you can't load an R3 patch onto a Nord Lead. You can't even directly move patches between the R3 and the Radias, and they are related. There has been some some limited conversion software. So basically, there is no compatibility between synths, unless you have special software designed to do it, and there will always be many limitations when converting between synths that have a significantly different structure.
For example, how would you convert an R3 patch that uses a DWGS wave to another synth that doesn't have DWGS waves? How would you convert a patch from a synth that has 3 oscillators per timbre to the R3, which has only 2 osc/timbre? You don't. And that doesn't include the hundreds of parameter differences between synths.
