Really confusing me...
Right i got a USB midi cable, in the hope i could use it with ableton, but on connecting to pc, and opening ableton, it doesnt seem to register it.
This seems to be widely covered and i have searched but still cant seem to find an answer.
Is this the wrong cable? What do i need to do on ableton? if it is the wrong cable what one do i need to use?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Open up the Live Preferences...
Click on the MIDI tab...
In the first channel (1) - make sure that both the input and output are set to the device name "USB TO MIDI DIN CABLE" or however this cable is being recognized.
Next, drag an instance of Operator to your session window to test if midi is working... In the Live browser click the second icon which should be Live Devices and drag Operator to the session arrangment.
You should have the microKorg set to midi channel 1 and probably want to turn local sounds off.

If you bought the cable to send the MicroKorg sounds to Ableton, then you did buy the wrong cable.
Midi is not audio. No audio sounds go through midi.
To get the audio into the PC, you first should have a good USB audio input box, like an M-Audio Fast Track, then a pair of cables with 1/4" TR Phone Jack plugs on both ends.
You can still use the midi interface for what it was designed to do - send note, control, and programming data between the computer and MK, just not the sounds that result from it.

I'm glad you got the midi side of things working. As Xmlguy stated - if you actually want to get the sounds from the microkorg recorded into ableton then that is a different thing.
Some devices out there will do both for you, but read these forums carefully if you decide to get another audio interface. I have had great times with M Audio and also some horrible times. I don't want to confuse you with issues you may never encounter so I will stress that you do your research or post your complete system specs here when you ask for help in buying a new deivce.
The microkorg is awesome and so is ableton. I'm just trying to save you the headache I currently have.

Yeah thanks for pointing that out for me.
I did want the midi cable for what im using it for, was just wondering if it could do both - obviously not.
I do have a jack - jack cable but the sound is terrible, the midi cable is awesome tho, used it on Reason aswell, can do endless stuff with it.
I will see if i can find an alternative to jack jack, research permitting! lol
But again many thanks for your help, saved me a geat deal of hastle, and is appreciated.
