M50 "Hanging" Whilst Playing
Anyone else experienced the M50 "hanging" or "locking up" whilst playing? It's happened just a few times in a couple of months but recently happened whilst playing live.
The sound hangs on a single note which continues to sound irrespective of what else you play. I don't think it's any particular patch and maybe a patch change would cure it, but I've just switched off and on again so far to clear it.
Any advice or information appreciated.

Hasn't happened to me yet and pray it doesn't while playing out.
Other keys work while the one note hangs? Am I reading that correct?
See if you can isolate it. Does it happen in both combi and prog modes?

Ya, What mode are you seeing this in? Or is it only in Seq mode?
This has happened to me in Seq. mode (never live tho, and never will since I wouldn't hit "stop" in the middle of a sequence (unless the drummer lost time). SO for this issue, there IS an explination for it in Seq. mode. It didn't get the command "key off".
No matter what mode, if a note holds, it's do to not receiving "note off" command. Assuming other notes cam play.
Post details as to exactly how this is happening, try to make it happen.
THANKS!
Mike

My experience.
It happened yesterday. I was playing a midi file of Jean Michell Jarre (Second Redez-Vous), when the song stopped itself in a measure "hanging" a note. I could play the keyboard, but nothing else! The sound continued locked, the only way to stop it was turning off and then on.
It´s the third time my M50 crashes (see a post of a possible BUG), I´m starting to worry, not only for losing the song you were creating, but specially in live situations.

100% hardware made. All is done in a Korg M50 internal sequencer. Now updated (7/09/12) at http://www.hispasonic.com/akmon

I'm almost always in Prog mode whilst playing live and never in Seq so this is happening in the least complicated mode and it does seem to be a missing "key off" command (internal).
It's pretty hard to replicate as it happens so infrequently. It's not a "show stopper" as I can cover on another keyboard, but annoying that in all the keyboards (lost count!) I've used over the years I've never had this problem.
I'll keep trying to replicate it.

Got a stuck note again using Prog C055 "screaming tube guitar" although I don't think the patch matters. Strangely, by holding down SW1 (assigned to CC#80) stopped the stuck note but it carried on after release of SW1.
It also survived a patch change BUT a press of the Combi button cleared it and an immediate switch back to Prog was OK.
With this and similar problems reported by others, seems a firmware update is required from Korg unless there is an easier solution.

Hmm... it's happened to me aswell now.
I was messing about on Combi B064, tweaking control knobs & using chord assign buttons when just ONE note of a chord sustained.
Other single notes still sounded when played.
I switched to another combi & the sustaining note stopped.
When I switched straight back to B064 everything was fine.
Strange.

So now we have another member with the same odd occurrence? Hmmm, I'll have to try and get this to happen on mine later this evening.jpscoey wrote:Hmm... it's happened to me aswell now.

oddly enough, this seems to be a reoccurring bug for Korg. I remember having this issue with the Korg DW-8000 and I had to get the latest ROM chip sent to me and send the old one back. Happened all the time - randomly.
I also remember reading about it on early M1's and some other mini keyboard thing.

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
Only had the board 3 weeks and I've had this happen a few times. Once live. Different Progs each time. Rest of the band kept looking at me, like 'why are you doin' that?'
Powered off and on. Will try the Prog->Combi->Prog switch to see if it works next time it happens.

I just got started using my M50 and am getting stuck notes left and right. I have 1.1.0. Playing organs in Program mode (Example, A122) I'll be holding down an note and when I play another note the new note will get stuck and subsequent notes played will stick too. Have to reser the M50 to clear. I'm hardly an accomplished musician, but this is making the M50 of questionalbe value. Is this anything Support has tackled yet?
Have you contacted Korg yet? Either way, I'd PM Jerry and let him know. He's the fastest way to the people at Korg who need to know,

Hi McHale - I sent an email to Korg support. The problem is widespred. I can't play a mesaure and a half before all played notes stick. I just rescued the shipping box out of the trash. (Man, I hate to go through this.)
I'm not familiar enough with the forum to recognize who Jerry is. What's his handle? I'll even have to find out how to send a PM.
Thanks - Dave
