Hi, I was at Guitar Center the other day wanting to purchase a Radias, but they said it was being discontinued, is this true? What is going to replace the Radias? :?: :(

In this economy? The original Microkorg is about all many musicians can afford to buy new these days.

it may not necesarily be discontinued by korg.
I expect what they mean is that they are not selling it any more because they do not make a profit from it (by that I mean guitarcentre, not Korg)

I imagine there must be some stocks of it left yet. although at sound control (now 'reverb') here, they have had the Radias-Keyboard without module sitting there for ages. but then they only seem to actually get it in for christmas anyway..

If they do replace it, it would be nice if they replaced it with something that merges the MS/Radias and Electribe lines together, wouldn't it? a propper polyphonic grove machine sequencer, or an electribe with song/pattern sequencers and send effects, depending on what way you look at it.
anyway I always stray into speculation...

Guitar Center blew out all their Radias stock back in the fall of 2007 (that's when I bought mine...the Radias-R was only $699). It was hardly a discontinued product, in fact the OS 2.0 upgrade had just been released.

Go to some other dealer or order one online.

I used to work at a guitar center and the whole place is run by morons. I wouldn't trust anything they said. They've been telling people that kurzweil is out of business since 2003. If they don't sell something, they pretend that it doesn't exist.

Hah, thanks guys for improving my consumer confidence  Will definitely stimulate the economy by buying a RADIAS. I've been trying to decide between the AKAI MPK49 and going all software, but I will be missing the awesome vocoder the Radias has. My Bro already has the R3 and it is pretty amazing. Now I kind of want an Electribe...

They are all the same, horrible unknowledgeable staff..... Poor customer service.... I went to 10 in the last month to look for the Radias and they advised they blew them all out, but could special order, I ended up just buying one used this week for $650 with the keys.......

GREAT SYNTH !!!!

FOr what it is worth I love my Radias I used it extensivly on my new world music record (www.jaffaroad.com)

I bought it 10 months ago in a big blow out sale and L&M in Canada, they told me that it was being discontinued by Korg Canada, I paid either 499 or 599 new for Radias-R
