PA500 mixed feelings

The styles on the PA500 are simply great, however some voice patches are really bad, fortunately there is a way to make most of them sound good. I have to be tweaking/layering them a lot to get acceptable results. Hopefully the rather small 80 voice polyphony should be enough(fingers crossed). I remember some time ago the superb strings/orchestras coming from the triton extreme ex 61.
Trumpet section is disappointing and brass section is so so.
I mainly use piano, EP's, strings, brass sounds. I guess there won't be a noticeable difference if I upgrade to the old PA800, I'm really tempted to send it back and get the M3 instead. I only have 5 days with it. I don't want to break my budget, I know motif xs6 or xs7 have great strings and pianos, but will be a considerable expense. I will keep my psr-s900 por piano sounds(acoustic and EP's), my GW-8 for brass/trumpet sounds, and the PA500 for styles, will have to move my hands really fast to keep changes on the fly smoothly, specially when I go live.

Well you are clearly confused when you name the PA800 an old machine and the PA500 a new one. The PA500 is simply a downtuned version of the PA800.

The brass section to my opinion is flawless, one of the best trumpet's I have ever heard, especially with the added effects. Not to mention the DNC capabilities.

Maybe you are looking for some "other" brass sounds ? If you are looking more for trumpets, I can send you some of the ones I am using. Also someone here on the forum (Rikkisbear??) has created an excellent trumpet and shared with all of us.

regarding the term "old" I used for describing the PA800 was only to mention it was released 2 years before PA500, never in a contemptuous way.
Yes, I would like to have those brass sounds you are talking about.
Will look definitely for "Rikkisbear" sounds. thanks
