Kaossilator touchpad

Not real sure if this belongs here.

Anyhow, I purchased a kaossilator about a month back. Been very happy with the instrument. While showing it to a few of my friends, it fell off a table and hit the back of a chair. There's a small ding in the touchpad now which results in one continuous note being played.

I bought it from a Guitar centre which is about an hour from where I live, and I'm hesitant to drive all the way out there. Because the damage is, more or less, as a result from my "misuse", would the dealer or Korg honor an exchange for the damaged product? If not, is there a way to repair it safely?

I'll do a little more homework. I just thought this might be a decent place to start.

Cheers and thank you for any replies.

If you purchased with a credit card or debit card, check to see if it has "Purchase Assurance Coverage". This coverage usually includes any damage done within 90 days of purchase. It isn't the same as warranty coverage. Warranties are usually limited to manufacturing defects, and dropping it onto the corner of a chair isn't a manufacturing defect. If you don't have Purchase Assurance, you're probably out of luck. The cost of repair is more expensive than what you can find working used ones for on ebay. If enough people with busted kaossilators and miniKPs get together, then you might be able to salvage some of them by swapping parts. The miniKP and Kaossilator share a lot of parts, including the pads.
