editor: "KP3 not found"

"KP3 not found" is what's on my screen when I try to work with the editor.

I just updated the editor and the USB-Midi drivers for Mac and now the editor can't find the KP3 anymore (damn I had to stick with the old drivers :( ).
Strange thing is that it still appears as an external hard drive and I can load data from the KP3 (like global, program, ...), so my Mac is 'seeing' the KP3 or, more likely, the SD storage (all the files I see are files I saved on the SD card).

What should I do?

I downloaded the newest version from http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm ... 20Software

When the SD card is in the KP3, the display shows ready in USB mode and I can see the data on the card (as an external drive)
When the SD card is out of the KP3, the display shows "USB" in USB mode and I can't see or do anything.

Nothing seems to help, the editor can't find my KP3.

I need some help :?:

you can manually set the kp3's midi port using one of the options in editor. have you tried that? sometimes it works for me when it doesn't autodetect.

usually (almost always in my experience) with a problem like this there is something wrong with your drivers. uninstall, reinstall, try again. there's really not much else you can do so i hope it works!

make sure you get a full un-install. often times remnants of drivers will somehow block new installs from working properly. you uninstalled editor too, right?

last thing i can say is contact korg, which will probably yield better results since i'm just guessing and they may know for sure. if you do, let us know what they say.

Thanks for the answers!

I also tried reïnstalling the drivers and the editor, nothing seems to work.
But I can save the samples on my SD card as an external HD when I rename them as 00.KPS, 01.KPS, 02.KPS ... so I'm good for now.

Still strange that it all worked well in the past :?

in my case, computer also recognizes KP3, but editor doesnt. also, it all worked well, and dont know what happened recently. maybe KP3 drivers are in conflict with other usb audio devices...

Hey folks...To access the KP3 via the Editor you want to make sure that you're not in USB mode. The USB mode is set up exclusively for transmitting data to and from the SD card in your KP3. In that sense, the KP3 is in essence acting as an SD card reader. To communicate with your Editor you don't need to put it in USB mode. Simply connect it via USB, install the driver and you should be able to use it within the Editor. See if that takes care of things. Good luck!

:)

Hey thanks for the advice.

I tried it, but the editor still can't find the KP3 unit (also when I'm not in USB mode).
I'm working only with the SD cards right now (I convert my files with the editor, save them as 01.kps, 02.kps, ... and transfer them to the SD card with the KP3 in USB mode)

Have you tried this to solve your problem.

(copied from another thread)

On the editor set Midi preferences to auto detect.

Also,

press shift+4
select "sys.e"
push the selector knob
make sure it's set to "ena" - as in "enabled"
most important - write the data

then try sending your data again. cheers...

have any of you made sure that you run the 'install Korg USB-MIDI Device' under KORG in program files. you have to do this (after installing the drivers), in order to associate the KORG driver with the device. I usually run this every time i connect my radias(the KORG driver is for all KORG devices), but i'm not sure if you have to (i just like to make sure). you need to have run it at least once. if in doubt, there is no harm in doing it again.
