That looks great. How did you remove the colouring but keep the white lettering?

I don't know exactly, I was expecting the white paint to come off too, but it didn't. So looks even better than expected. I just used some cheap cleaner I got at the 99cent store

i believe all of the "newer" Electribes are anodized aluminum, in which case you can use Easy Off oven cleaner to remove this coating. however, care should be exercised as oven cleaner can be nasty stuff to breathe or get on your skin. search online for specific instructions, do the removal in a well ventilated area, and use proper gloves and eye protection.

Would that leave the lettering on do you know? I would do that in a second if I knew the lettering would stay. Looks awesome.

That does look sweet...I can see alot of people doing this to their machines. I kinda hate anodized aluminum. It always reminds me of REI

it does look good but i dunno if i would change the red(that is not red enough) on the esx................I suppose if you had it for years a little make over almost equals a nu drum machine.......good to know for the future

i've never tried it. perhaps gil can offer more specifics on the precise product and process he used. if not, you can always use the Easy Off on a small "test" portion of your Electribe (say, on the "TM" of the SmartMedia port graphics, or even on the side of the Electribe, where you've got the painted steel, and see what happens).

looks nice in silver, but personally, i love the blue and red E-X combo.

I originally wanted to go with Easy Off, but it was $6 a can, i'm a tightwad. I was later at a 99 cent store and they had some knock Oven Cleaner in an orange can. I am sorry I don't recall the manufacturer.

I was *shocked* the paint didn't come off either, but then maybe it wouldn't come off anyway Paint and Anodized ink react different I suppose. Definitely very happy to see the white remain

Guess we'll see a trend I dunno

now that's good lookin

I always thought the ES mk2 was the best looking one, the ESX and EMX are nice too, but the stupid red-ish (that my gf and a few of my friends claim is actually more pink than red) is getting uglier every time I think of it, that's why I dropped $40 on a styleflip :p Had I known this earlier, I would have made a silver one myself
