Post by MusiKman »

Just wanted to ask, say I wanted to sell my MOSS board, how much would be a good price to ask? Just wanna have an idea if its worth the trouble.

The average price on Ebay is around $500. I paid a little less for mine. Shipping is cheap for a package that small. Just make sure you place it in a anti-static bag. Of course, Ebay and PayPal will take a nice bite out of your profit. I'd say you'll end up with about $450. Well worth it, IMO.
Current Korg Lineup: Kronos 61, Oasys 76 · M3-61/RADIAS · Trinity Plus/HDR · 01/WFD · 01R/W · X3R · M3R · Wavestation EX · Wavestation SR · Triton Rack/MOSS · Z1EX · TR-Rack · Karma · D3200 · iM1 · iWavestation · iMono/Poly
Other Synths: Berhinger Deepmind 12 · iProphet · Moog Model D

Thanks for the info. Only thing that concerns me is if it would be difficult to remove. I have assembled PCs, but somehow, opening my silver beast freaks me out.. That cash would be welcomed for sure. I'm going to look into it as I have sold stuff on ebay and worked out just fine. We'll see. Thanks though.

Does anyone have a picture of the MOSS board inside the Trinity? I've decided to place them for sale on ebay along with the PBS-TRI board. I'm not going to sale the hard drive because im keeping the HDR- and Di-tri options. I want to get a nice Fender Sunburst telecaster ive had my eyes on and i hope to raise enough cash by selling both these cards. WIsh me luck guys..

From the photos I've taken in the past, the MOSS board is always obscured by the SCSI board (the Moss fits underneath it).

Image

^ You can only see the SCSI board there. The Moss board is situated beneath the red dotted box.

Image

^ Above shows the SCSI board (on top) with the Moss board beneath it. The SCSI board piggy backs the Moss board.

However, below is a pic of the moss board completely removed from the Trinity and uncoupled from the SCSI board:

So awesome Timo. Thank you so much.

So when I ship out the MOSS or PBS board, what exactly do I have to send them? Sorry for being so ignorant about this but i want to make sure the person that buys the cards gets exactly what they need and deserve. Thanks in advance.

For MOSS-TRI they will need:

• the Moss board
• the Moss manual
• factory preset PCGs - you can get them here: http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=354 - they go under the name "V3 Series Factory Preload (V3/V3Pro/V3Prox)". If it was me that was selling the Moss board, I'd put those PCGs onto floppy disks ready for them to use, but failing that just give them the download link.

• They will also need to install OS v.3.1.2 on their Trinity in order to use the Moss board, so give them the same link http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=354 and scroll down a bit. Or, again, you may wish to prep two floppy disks ready for them to install it.

For the PBS-TRI, they will need:

• the PBS board
• the two separate RAM chips (which are placed into the motherboard)
• the plastic "spacers" on which the PBS board is mounted above the motherboard
• the PBS-TRI manual
• factory preset samples (which you should already have on one or two floppy disks, or they can be got here under the title "PBS-TRI Option Sample Disk": http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=454)

If you've lost the MOSS and/or PBS manual, they can also be got here: http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=454 but the original paper manuals would be preferable, of course.

I assumed it was permanently connected on the Moss board side of things.

I also forgot, with the PBS you also need to give them the plastic "spacers" on which the PBS board is mounted, above the motherboard.

And the screws for the Moss board, etc.

Thanks Timo for all your great help and advice. Thank you to all.

Guys, I really need help with how much to ask for the cards. First of all, I dont want to ask too much but I dont want to loose out too much either as I need the cash to buy my guitar. I might be selling the hard disk drive and HDR tri option too. Havent decided on that one, but i need to have a ball park figure to ask for for these cards. People are asking me how much I want, and honestly I dont know. If I say a price, i might be asking to low or too high. so please help me out. I wonder if i place them for sale on ebay, i might be able to get a good turn out, since i have 100 percent feeback from selling and buying over the years. But, I need help figuring out a good price. For one, i know the buyer will be so happy. I tried finding completed sales on ebay, but found none. These cards are indeed rare. But hopefully i can bless someone with a good price that I can be blessed to buy my guitar too. Thanks in advance. OH, if i sold the HDR tri, how much for that one too. I would include the external hard drive and scsi card for the PC. Thanks guys for all your help and advice.
Best,
Musikman

As briefly touched on, due to the scarcity of Trinity options available now, the prices will heavily be in your favour. People will be prepared to pay more in order to snap them up. Supply and demand.

It's hard for me to give you a price as the USA economy (the general day-to-day "cost of living"), and separately the exchange rate, is completely different to the UK's or European's, and thus would translate differently than just a simple currency conversion.

In the UK I'd price them at £300 for the Moss board, and £200 for the PBS. How that translates to the USA economic standings is anyone's guess.

I did it guys! took out all the cards including the HD-TRI. I thought the scsi was separate but the HD-TRI included the scsi. PRetty cool. Also, i now have those brackets that were holding the MOSS and HD-tri, but i have a lot of little screws, and i forgot which goes with which. I know four attached the MOSS and four the HD-Tri but i have four black ones.

Oh, and i took out the PBS-Tri board also. The two IC Chips werent that difficult to remove. But had to be very careful. All in all, everything is in anti static bags, and ready to go. Will sell my Hard Disk also and HD cables for it. I will only stay with my DI-tri though.

I might have some more questions but thank you in advance for all the help. I received a lot of offers, but im afraid to ship outside the US. So for now, im going to consider selling them on ebay as i have 100% feedback. Stay tuned for anyone interested. My ebay name is Soundblue. Thanks guys.

Musikman

Timo, for the PBS I couldnt get the plastic spacers off the main motherboard. Felt weird pulling them as if theyre locked in there. I think the buyer can get those at any electronics store right?
Everything else is out.

Also, the brackets that were holding the MOSS and HDR-TRi do those brackets stay in the trinity?

I'm unsure. But I'm pretty sure the plastic spacers (or "standoffs" as they may be called) were in the PBS-TRI kit when I bought it from Korg, so the new PBS owner will, somehow, need to get some, or he may have problems mounting it.

I'm not sure what you mean, without seeing them. The grey brackets are each part of the individual boards. You don't take them off. They're part of them.

Like on the Moss board:

Image

The grey brackets you can see on the left and right are part of the Moss board. You shouldn't remove those brackets from the Moss board. Otherwise you wont be able to mount it inside another Trinity.
