MOD7 SYSEX Export Troubles

I've made a 6 OSC pad in the MOD-7. I'm trying to dump it into sysex librarian so I can import it into NI FM8 on my Receptor. I'm getting an error that says its not in the recognized format. I've tried reading it back into the OASYS and I'm getting the no readable data error.

Here's the file:

I'm using Dump Program in global P1: MIDI. I've tried several times and keep getting a very similar set of data. I'm not really that familiar with the format so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

I don't think that Native Instruments can import OASYS files....

I guess my logic is flawed. Dumb me. FM8 can import SYSEX files from a DX7. I thought that maybe if the OASYS could import SYSEX from a DX7 then it could dump SYSEX that would be readable by a DX7 and therefore readable by FM8 as long as it was a MOD7 patch. Not true I guess. As I said, my knowledge of SYSEX is not good.

So then, why would a SYSEX file that was created by the OASYS not be readable by the OASYS?

I understand why you might think that, but it doesn't work that way. In comparison to the MOD-7, the DX7 has relatively simple patches: sine waves only, single feedback path, no filters, no waveshaping, no custom patching, no samples, fewer envelopes and LFOs, etc. So, much of what the MOD-7 does is well beyond the DX7, and therefore cannot be represented in DX7 format; DX7 to MOD-7 is a one-way path.

I believe that the same is true for FM8; it can import DX format, but not export.

You're correct: this is a different issue. My guess is that the SysEx file was corrupted somehow. This can sometimes happen if the buffer sizes for either the MIDI hardware or the SysEx software are too small. Look for FAQs on your specific hardware and software.
