I've heard of a reliable source that in September a new Korg workstation is lounched!
Perhaps quite an OASYS successor?

I can think of two reasons why your source is wrong in this case:

1) Korg and most other MI manufacturers announce their new keyboard products at the major manufacturer industry shows, primarily Winter NAMM, which is held in January each year. I think Korg has not ever participated in Summer NAMM the last two years. It would be very strange for Korg to announce any new keyboard in September

2) The discontinuation of the OASYS was a financial business decision -- not enough demand for an expensive workstation. I can't imagine Korg releasing another very expensive workstation in the near future.

I`am shure Korg can release at this time an OASYS with a quard processor for about 4000 - 5000 USD.........

Dan is workink at the jear 2000 only for the OASYS and nothing else!

Korg won´t stop creating synth and workstations. Let´s wait and see and discuss and decide when the time has come.
In the last almost 25 years of buying equipment I several times thought, now I do not need new device but ......

I'm with SoulB on this one. Since OASYS is now finished with, I for one am interested in what Korg do next. There's no doubt that the synthesizer and workstation market is in transition right now - to be honest I'm increasingly a gasped at the size of OASYS when otherwise a plethora of companies are releasing 'nano' of everything they did in the past - from SSL to Korg themselves; suggesting that big hardware is increasingly a thing of the past.

But just as you think this is the trend, Roland release V-Piano at near OASYS prices and look like they are as oblivious to 'optimisation and maximising shareholder profit' as they were when releasing the System 100.

So I'm quite interested in what Korg are thinking. It looks to me that they are a bit lost at the moment - I personally feel they've been caught on the hop regarding diminishing workstation sales and will try to respond with new, innovative and market driven 'nano' everything - but nevertheless could totally surprise us with yet another take on the workstation.

We here certainly gave them plenty of new ideas - speaking of which Daz - I wish you'd put back the OASYS wish list we had here for quire a while, even if locked down - there were quite a number of intriguing ideas on that list (including some I believe made it to M3 Expanded). In fact M3 Expanded is a result if OASYS so we've perhaps already glimpsed the future in this regard.

Anyway, without getting too ridiculous, I see no damage in some healthily anticipation or speculation at this stage. I’d go even further – I know many here are not interested in the evolution or survival of the synthesizer, but I am, and where better to debate/speculate and suggest new thoughts on the such issues than on a forum – and one representing the pinnacle of workstation technology today? After all, Korg sought our thoughts in a questionnaire on the future of the workstation – surely that validates what we’ve got to say on the subject to some extent?

I think there is a larger market for a pure digital piano than a workstation. Also, when you compare the cost of the V-piano to some of the "furniture-type" digital pianos its not that much.

Also, supposedly Roland has been working on the V-piano for 10 years. With a project that long (similar to the OASYS), you get to a point you have to release the product, even in a down market.

It will be interesting to see how the V-piano sells, and how long it lasts in the marketplace.

We know Korg is working (finishing ?) on something in their secret lab in NY state. is it a keyboard, a groove box.... i don't know. I think there is a place for a KB between an m3 and an oasys. surely not an oasys II.

but My wish would go for a killer synth, vintage look, lots of knobs, with 3 engines inside: MOD7 /MS20/Polysix !

regarding speculation again and again... the world is living on speculation and anticipation....so why not here? why not on korg products.....we all get excited speaking of new products and that's great (
