play just a drumkit?

I've read the drum bits in the manual and it keeps referring to 'Drumset'.
I've just finished attempting to play a 'kit' through/along with a song instead of using my Alesis drum machine (power supply is shot) and was wondering if there's a way to get a kit pattern (or create one) - like a drum machine - to play without any other sounds (flutes, presets, etc.).

if you're playing a drumkit in program mode, or with a drum kit in a combi mode setup, you can use the (programmable step) arpeggiator as a kind of drum sequencer. there are many, many, many (I think too many) drum pattern presets. make sure to turn the 'keyboard' checkbox off if it is on (this plays the program with the keys whilst the arp is still running). all the drum patterns start with 'dr-'.

or you can make your own patterns in global mode, but its a bit complicated for fixed-note arp sequences, don't you think there are enough already?

If I only had a real drumkit, and a cellar with a house above it and a few ocean surrounded acres then I'd have all the drum patterns I could ever want!
Thanks for the info, I'll look into it (and probably be back with more questions...;>)

I just scrolled through the PROG G(d) drumkits and there's nothing there (with the ARP on or off) that plays a full drum pattern like a drum machine would. It's all just individual kit component sounds.
help...?

the global mode drumkits are pure drumkits as defined in global mode. you will find propperly set up drumkits in program mode under 'drum' in the category tab. I mean, drum kits other than the g(d) ones, i.e. ones in banks a, b, c, etc...

when creating a program, you have the option of one sample oscillator, two sample oscillators, or to use a drumkit.
if you find a kit you like, go to the arp page and scroll through all the different patterns too.

Hi,
I have a TR but the result should be the same, they are more or less the same, but your programs may be in different places.

I turn on my TR (important step :P )
go to, PROG mode
press CATEGORY
scroll across to 'Drum' (bottom right hand corner)

first program is called 'A004: Mashed Kit' (interesting, but it'll do).
hit Arp on/off so that it is lit
press a key and hold (latch isn't ticked in the arp settings. if you want the pattern to stay playing, you have to go into the arp settings and tick 'latch'.

in the ARP page, I tick 'latch'.
Then go to Pattern: 'U145(INT) : Dr-New RnB'.
scroll through the different patterns whilst it is still playing...

the patch and pattern numbers and even category names may be different, but the concept remains the same.
I would have checked the mX patchlist before I wrote this but i'm running low on time right now.

Thanks for the info.
I did what you suggested but only the specific key/note/ivory drum sound plays continuously with the arp on, there's still no full drumkit pattern.

EDITED:
ah, my bad. I didn't scrollup to the first kit, somehow I had STANDARD KIT show up (hey, it's early...;>)
Thanks!
