i recently got a korg padkontrol w/ creative kontrol pack vol. 3

i am not good with midi so i'm struggling mightily trying to get this thing to work properly for me.

i have it loaded and can play all the synths in live and reason, but i can't get the pads to play more that a few drums sounds... meaning i can usually get a tom, a high hat and a cymbal, but that's it

i'm looking at the manual, but not being good with midi it all seems like greek.

can anyone recommend some tutorials or something to get me going

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

1.press setting
2.press midi ch
3.tap a pad
4.turn the dial to select channel 1
5.tap the pad (making sounds yet)
6.press note cc
7. turn the dial to select a note (choose c4 or something near the middle)
8. press the pad (the same pad as before-any sounds)

you can repeat the process for all pads.

Have you soft synth set up to listen on channel 1 (which is usually the default for melodic sounds).
channel 10 is for drums, do not use it for anything else. the channel 10 for drums thing has always been since midi was invented.

Once you get the basics of how MIDI works you will find it easy to use any kind of controller (keyboard etc) with you computer.

I can appreciate how daunting this stuff must be for someone just starting out with MIDI. Once you get the concepts sorted in your mind, everything will seem quite simple.

This might work...

I adviced another user the following and he replied it worked fine:

You should try it with Redrum. First you must assign the pads to notes, with the scene editor, that you download from Korg. Basically it works like this:

Redrum 1 to 10, equal Middle C to Middle A including flats. You will have two spare Pads.

If you want to use it with a synth or a sampler, you can assign the spare pads to B flat and B, and you have a full octave with the 12 pads. You can program other scenes for higher or lower octaves.

Hope it works!
