NanoPad not recognized by windows

Post by mistertom »

Hi everybody,

I've just bought a Nanopad and have some problem to install it.
When I plug it to my Laptop, windows cannot detect it.
I use win XP sp2
I have no problem with other usb device

I have installed the Korg USB-MIDI driver.

I have also try to fix midi conflict by using M-Audio MIDIFIX utility
But nothing...

Please could anyone advise me about how to solve this.

Thanks a lot

Have you run the 'Install KORG USB-MIDI Device' utility in program files under KORG?
You have to do this to associate the driver with the device, just 'installing' the driver utility isn't enough, you need to activate it in the case of KORG's driver...

Hi X_trade,
Thank you for your answer,

I had already try to run the "install Korg Usb-midi device"
but I receive this message:
ERROR: No device is plugged in

I use an external audio card Hercule Dj console plugged by USB on my laptop.
In Control panel/Sound&Peripheric/Material, I can see "USB audio Peripheral" only if this hercules card is plugged to my computer.
If I unplugged it, This USB-audio peripheral disapear.
Purhaps the problem come from this?

Thanks for your answer and sorry for my english

is the nano plugged into a direct connection on the computer, or is it running of a hub (could be internal or external)?
do any of the lights come on?
do you have a spare cable (a lot of smartphones and some external HDs use this connection too) to test with?

I'll assume you've tried restarting the computer. so you're saying that when you run the KORG utility, it doesn't show the nano at all?

Yes, Nano is plugged directly on the computer, whithout any hub.
When, I plug it, a red lght come during 2 secondes and disappear.
I have try with other cable, same result.
I have also tried to install it on an other laptop (exacly same configuration - using exernal audio sound card Hercules) and result is exacly the same
I really cannot understand why windows cannot detetect it?
I'll try to buy an allimented Hub today.
Is anyone have an other idea about the reason??
Thank you for your support.

if the light goes out on both computers then I would think that it is possibly a hardware fault. The light should be on when it is receiving power, whether the driver is installed or not (i.e. it should still come on even if you plugged it into a powered hub not connected to computer, or even for example one of the USB socket 'phone chargers' that you get these days.

I would suggest that you contact your local KORG distributor for support.

I've had that problem with the NanoKey...it usually runs ok with Reason, but from time to time the PC does not recognize it. What I have done and seems to correct the problem, at least for as long as I do not turn off the Pc, is to disconnect it and connect it into another USB port.

If not, I'll suggest you try it on a Mac. All three of my Nanos work fine with my Mac, both in Reason and Logic. If this is the case, mytbe your PC has got a problem. I had one Laptop, fortunately gone, that recognized Nanokey only the first time I pluged it in and installed the driver. Never again was I able to get it working.

Good Luck :!:
