Im trying to work out how to latch on the arpeggiator with one sound (i.e. ' vintage bass', split the sound to the lower keyboard and then choose a different instrument from the A to P knob - to play i.e. 'lead' or 'poly synth' whilst the original vintage bass is playing! If someone can please help.

Oh, and I only got this 3 days ago so please explain as simple as possible! thanx in advance!

Step 1: Download and install the latest Korg USB-midi driver.
Step 2: Download and install the latest R3 patch/librarian software.
Step 3. Run the R3 editor.

yeah. there is no 'mode' that will allow you to make split arrangements or such.

instead of a workstation where you might have program, combi, multi mode, and each of these owns 'programs', you should consider it the other way around:
Programs are the top level infrastructure, each one can be single or dual mode. in dual mode you have two timbres to play with.

you can copy timbres from other programs to the current one. This is easiest in the editor but can also be done from the front panel.

so you could have one timbre with your arp, (you would need to copy both the timbre, and the arp settings), and on the second timbre you could have your other synth sound to play, although this would only work for single-timbre sounds, otherwise you'll have to miss out on one of the timbres from the original program. I hope that makes sense!
