Re: BIAB - KORG QUESTION
Hi Jeff,
you can create pads from BIAB style tracks or are you refferring to the "soloist" tracks?
Main problem I found was choosing the correct chord type to generate the midifile from
basically, a phrase created for a yamaha multipad, would also be suitable for a korg multipad, they can both use a phrase based on a maj7th chord ( korg can use other chord types as well, but that's more complex)
but I noticed when I typed a cmaj7th chord into BIAB , I ended up with additional notes like 9ths.
Got a bit messy. Eventually I think I did find a chord type that left out additional notes, I'd have to go back & check what I did. I didn't do it for pads, I actually tried doing it for styles, but shouldn't make any difference.
You can actually use psr style tracks for creating Korg pads too.
If you're interested , I'll try & put together a bit of a step by step.

HI Jeff,
what I was saying was, the same phrase used to create a yamaha pad, could be used to create a korg pad.
It's been a while since I played around with yammie pads.
From memory, I you have to rename the extension to .mid.
You end up with 4 phrases, you can only use one at a time for korg.
Stay away from drum pads, you'd probably have to remap some of the drums to suit korg mapping. Probably not worth the effort.
Try and stay away from pads that use megavoices.
Basically it would then be a case of trying to find a suitable voice, I do that in the korg itself.
If you've got a particular pad in mind, I can take you thru the process.
(I use XG works. For some bizzare reason, my psr style & pads open up automatically in xg works when I click on them )

Very interesting to hear Yamaha pads can be used too.
Can they be used like they are or is the extension to be changed ?
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards, Jeff

Hi Rikki :
It would be great to know how you have managed to turn Yami pads into Korg pads.
I have made so many Yamaha multipads myself in the past.
I understand megavoices cannot be used, drum multipads either.
I also understand the extension xxxx.pad has to be changed into xxxx.mid, right ?
How does the keyboard know it is a pad ?
Your feedback would be very much appreciated.
Best wishes, Jeff / The Netherlands

Hi Jeff,
a pad is really only a short midifile.
Send me one you'd like to convert from psr to korg & I'll take you thru the steps .
I'll do it via the stylemaking group, as we can upload & download files as we go.
It's simple once you get the hang of it.
