Analog Set: Requests?
I'm working on my new analog patch set (which will be complemented by a separate digital set around the same time).
I've got plenty of interesting material for the digital set, because there is so much depth there - basically anything that doesn't sound analog.
But, i'm struggling for the analog set. Well i've got plenty of sounds but they are all pretty mediocre. Is there anything specific that anyone wants?
If you do, then post here, but I will need an example to work from.
I've got several variations on Taurus Bass, Solina-type sounds, tape delay effects, as well as some organs, EPs(one fantastic compressed driven EP!), and a Genesis-y Watcher-Of-The-Sky Mellotron. I also seem to have 5th square and sawtooth leads coming out of my ears, because they're so easy to make an instantly vintage-like sound. and I have my 48-OSC (all four timbres with maximum unison) lead which actually seems to make the lights dim on the front panel and causes the arpeggiator to lag.
so mainly, i'm looking for more interesting Lead, Polysynth, and S.E. sound ideas. Anyone?
Or should I just go and listen to some Tangerine Dream and Pink Floyd records?

oh man, you NEVER should have started this thread. I'm dying for analog stuff.
Do you want audio clips and youtube examples or verbal or...
There's a few pads and leads I'm looking for. I've come close on a couple but haven't been happy with them.
Out of curiosity, is it easy to manually translate an EXB-RADIAS patch to RADIAS or vice versa? I haven't tried yet.

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
Yeah, i'm looking for audio examples or youtube clips (that aren't too difficult to find what you are looking for in). Verbal description can be okay but then you might as well program it yourself and you're likely to get something different. not necessarily a bad thing as far as i'm concerned because it will lead to new sounds either way.McHale wrote:oh man, you NEVER should have started this thread. as for translating between Radias and EXB, I don't think there are any existing utilities that do that, but it would be handy. Although it would have to deal with the combi/program structure that the EXB uses and translate it to radias timbres and vice versa. And some information would be lost in EXB>Radias because as far as i'm aware the EXB has eight (?) virtual patch slots, whilst the radias keyboard has six. That sells the M3+EXB to me on its own, now I just need to find the money(and it'd to everything I want in one box, except organs... I'd like an EXB-CX3 or something similar)... I'd be interested in knowing any other differences, maybe i'll go through the PG later.
I'll look at people's requests later, when I have a bit of time.

Probably was not a good idea but I enjoy the programming and would like to be doing it semi-professionally in the future.
If you could provide some kind of link to an example of what you would like to hear, then I'll look into it!

Lead sound »FonkSolo« for R3
Hello Korg R3 Synthesizer Users,
while checking out those minimoog solos on youtube i came along
with a lead patch i programmed, reminding some oldskool funk & jazz.
http://www.gmx.de/mc/sUrBT08iY8YqnTibO8Oj5CDfpaypzb
It´s called "FonkSolo". After following the link above,
just double-click the corresponding icon for download.
Enjoy playing it!

Thanks for hijacking my thread...
I guess I should have mentioned though:
The patches are for the Radias. Unless someone wants to lend me an R3! or offer to convert some of the patches.

Hi Xtrade:
Hey, I did´nt mean to "hijack" your thread.
I consider my post a practical contribution to this thread.
But since you asked for requests, I´d really like to have
a sound that comes close to the lead sound (probably moog)
on Fred Wesley & JB´s "Blow Your Head"
It sounds like a simple sawtooth osc with filter, but it´s very unique!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XzKrYHGxzU
PS: Is there a way to convert Radias patches to R3 format without using extra software?
Thanx!

That's very nice of you to take requests. Do you charge $ for your patches? Is there somewhere I can hear them?
I've got two requests if you fancy
- The first is very straight forward. It's somewhat of a selfish request, but I'm looking for the closest replica I can find of the following song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi3dA4pT9e4 I'm after the winded pipe in this track (I've already got the strings nailed). I can't for the life of me seem to create that flute though. I've tried every flute trick I know.
Going back to analog though, I would personally love to hear some classic 80's lead synths and mid basses.... Think Prophet V....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75sx7U6dAB4
I'll bet you don't recognize this song
- I really love the synthy chorus stab that comes in at 22 seconds....I've tried to re-create it and I simply can't do it. Would be really neat to have that in the arsenal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrlJX7DzLhI
Really like the Sound FX in the beginning @ 9 seconds. Havn't a clue what it is. Overall a very neat song considering I do not like hip hop. Also really loving the bass in the song (again, I can't nail it. can't even get close actually)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp1Dk7nzs7M&feature=fvst
This is actually a new song but built mostly with analog instruments. Moogs galore with these kids. Love every damn element in this thing.....Great saw bass, nice bells, lovely drums. If I had to pick one element, it would be the stabbing lead sounds that stick out very clearly in the mix. I've tried like hell to make those and I'm just not sure if the radias has strong enough osc's and filters for it, but maybe you can do it
Much thanks in advance. If you need these tracks in high quality, just email me! wiley@olympikrecords.com
I am a new radias owner and I have enjoyed reading your posts here. (Thanks for the trouble shooting you helped me with a few weeks ago)
Look forward to hearing what you can do with these !

funky lead base and lead Moog sounds for the Radias
if someone can come up with these, why would you buy a Moog .
can all of you out there start the creation bit and share ?
a few good examples I have listened to on this forum.

not unless you give me an R3 or someone with both an R3 and radias would spend time converting them!collias wrote:I assume you are making these patches for the Radias. Any chance that we will see some R3 versions?

By the way I havn't forgotten about this, just been away for a while.
I don't charge, and you can already find some patches by me in the download section here at korgforums:
http://www.korgforums.com/?show=1
also, currently i'm only taking requests for classic analog sounds for the analog set - not physical immitations or digital leads. Just looking for good examples of (mainly mono but also some polysynth) leads and basses and maybe some pads that people would like to hear that are identifiably analog.

Ah, ok
I'm almost certain the lead in the final youtube I posted is analog.
Some of the 80's sounsd the prophet V can produce would be awesome.
You said analog only, but some Roland D-50 sounds would be fantastic.
The Oberheim MX 1000 is an analog mono synth with 6 voices and 800 presets. If you're after creating mono analog, that is your huckleberry.
Overall I'd just love to hear some atmospheric sounds and some 80's synth sounds.

ah, well the last one you posted says it is not available in my country. the one where you said about the 'synthy stabs', sounds to me just like a sampled (thus digital) sound like you would find on a triton - it is a pizacato sound. there are analog emulations of such thing (naturally, like there is for everything), and I have one, it may already be in one of my download sets in the download section here.

and the 'sound effect' in the other track you mentioned - is merely a slide guitar!
