Would a switch pedal help me?

Usually when I need to be able to move between two sounds quickly I find one on the program side and one on the combi side and preset but sometimes (like today, lol) I want to switch between two sounds only found in one bank. Would a switch pedal help me? Is this something quiet or will it CLICK loudly like the guitar players when they change sounds? Is it complicated to set the keyboard for the sounds you want to switch between? Any experience you can share in this area is appreciated!!

You can't switch between two sounds with a switch pedal. Only way you can change sounds with pedal is "program up" and "program down"

You could, however, make a combi consisting of only the one program, and switch to it that way. Keep in mind that when switching between combis, you'll get some weird things happening if you hold down notes as you switch (either with the keyboard or sustain pedal). I don't know exactly how the Triton Studio does it, but my TR is able to keep the old sound as I move to a new combi, but the new combi's effects are applied.

A better, but more complicated, way for smooth transitions within a song is to use sequencer mode; there are a couple threads by X-Trade and I here that discuss this.

As for noise, it depends on the type of pedal. You can use the kind of pedal that a guitarist would have; they'll send the same signal. You'd probably want something like the Yamaha FC-5 though; I know Korg makes a comparable one, but I can't remember its name.

Kathos, you mentioned that when you change patches and are holding out a note or the Sustain peddle, that the existing does sound carries over to the new patch. When I switch patches in Combi the existing sound stops even if I am holding down notes or sustain pedal. Is there a setting that I don't have set?
I am trying to switch patches live so that the original patch I'm playing Kerry is over to the new patch so it doesn't sound saw abrupt when changing patches.

No, there's no setting. That only 'seamless' transition only works in Program mode.

And it's not really seamless, the old program sounds takes on the effects of the new program sound, so it only really is acceptable between sounds with similar effects stacks.

You've probably solved your problem by now but thought I'd share my technique. I have the need to do exactly the same thing.

What I did was copy the Progs I want to use into the EX bank. I placed one patch in bank A and the other in bank B. But I also had to change the patch numbers so that both are the same.

During performance all I need to do is press the EX Bank A and Bank B buttons

For example-

Copy Bank A Patch 000 (Noisy Stabber) into EX Bank A Patch 000
Copy Bank C Patch 001 (Concert Grand) into EX Bank B and change the patch number to 000.

Then it's just a simple matter selecting the first one you want to use (EX Bank A patch 000). Then during performance all you need to do is press the EX Bank (A or B) buttons to switch between the two.

This will also work in Combi mode.

Of course, this is assuming you didn't install any of the optional expansion boards in your Triton which by default are loaded into the EX Banks. But even if you did, you probably have some unused EX banks/patch numbers.
