Noob question about a set up with EMX-1

I'm looking into buying an EMX-1

Is it possible to connect a synth into the EMX-1 using the audio in, so that the synth's sounds go through it permanantely?

Hoping to use the Korg R3 into the EMX-1, then sampling with the Korg KP3.

Yes, the EMX can accept just about any sound source via its audio in. If you so desire, it can also process the sounds via its internal effects -- the manual has details.
