Hi everyone

I wonder if there exist a PC software that can create Korg-pa sets or sounds? Any idea any one?

Just in case if you wanna know, I own a pa500 (no sampling I know )

Great! Now I can write a software to do this, and use it as my graduation project at uni (I am doing Software Engineering) then, I am going to sell it and be so ritch, and then I'm finally going to by the pa800

My advice as a software engineer with 30 years background in the industry is to find yourself another project. If you attempt this one you will fail to achieve the goal. Many have tried. Many have got stuck.

One reason that you will not succeed is because there is encrypted information in the Korg .PCG and .STY and .PCM files that cannot be decrypted without inside knowledge of the encryption algorithm and its secret keys. Korg will not release the details because to do so would expose their sounds, styles and samples to copying and piracy.

Another reason that you will not succeed is that even if you cracked the encryption algorithm and its secret keys, the resulting software will not be commercially viable. It will not make you rich and will not generate the money to pay for a Pa800. At even $50 per copy, you will only sell at most 10 or 20 copies to enthusiasts. No-one else will buy it. With respect, you would have far more success raising money for your Pa800 by charging people to mow their lawns or wash their cars.

looooooooooool Thanks alot for the reply Rob, first I wasn't serious about the project, it requires lots of experience and I am now only in my second year at uni struggling with Java and C assignments! And no one will be able to copy my software because I am going to make it work as a trail unless if you enter a secret serial number that is only known by me lol joking again, I am on already e-bay now looking for a cheap loan mower

Sorry I took you seriously ... I find it a bit hard on forums to see when someone is smiling when they write things like that, and there have been several others who were deadly serious about the project. My friend and co-conspirator Mick Barry (mickb) is the most far advanced with PRM and XRM that are very useful tools, but which don't solve the whole problem because of the encryption difficulty Mick ran into and which I mentioned above.

Anyway I wish you every success as you continue your univestity course. For your final year project it is best policy to choose something that is easily achievable, and do it well, fully functional, with good supporting documentation and user guides. The final mark has far more to do with LoD (Lines of Documentation) than LoC (Lines of Code).

Hey hobypop! Forget mowing lawns and washing cars (unless you're topless ). Practice plenty, get really good on that PA500 and gig yer cojones off. It pays better and is far more fun. Good luck in your studies. Cheers.

Still it would be awesome to have something like the "M3 edditor" so one could hook up the PA2X as a plug in instrument to your DAW...
