Hi,
Any body experience how to connect M3 digital output in to logic via Motu 828 ??

I have a similar setup but with M3 Firewire direct to laptop using Cakewalk Sonar.

In your case, you can use either MOTU's USB2 or Firewire link with your computer depending whether your computer has a Firewire input or not. And to connect the M3 digitally to the 828 you would use a pair of Optical TOSLINK cables (about $6 from Ebay). You must set the sample rate on the '828 to 48 KHz and also make sure Logic is set to accept a sample clock at 48 KHz.

Thanks for replying I have already connected 828 firewire with my MacPro and almost of my works are 48 KHz so there is no problem but the Q? is how can I send the Tracks output in M3 Seq page to digital Output ?

Hi seeroos,

The audio output appearing on the L & R analog audio connector is also repeated on S/PDIF out, you don't have to do anything apart from plug the pair of TOSLINK cables in and set your MOTU unit to use S/PDIF TOSLINK 48 KHz instead of Alesis ADAT on its optical ports.

To Route S/PDIF in as an input on the M3 say for sampling, you can see page 11 of the M3 parameter guide. Then use the sliders in external mixer mode to adjust the S/PDIF input volume. Be very careful you do not create a feedback loop by routing S/PDIF input to L & R output (also to S/PDIF output) and then looping it at the PC or in the MOTU module.
