Connecting a midi keyboard to pa2x

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me if the chord recognition modes work when playing on an external midi keyboard? If it's functional, than which mode does it respond on e.g with single finger, three finger or Expert mode?

I would really appreciate, if someone out there has already an external keyboard setup with the pa2x and to verify if any chord recognition functionality actually works!

Best Regards

Chris.

Yes, PA2 can recognise chords that are played via external keyboard. Made quick test setting my M3 as master and Pa2 as slave (usually I play in opposite mode).

In order to make Pa2 recognise chords that came via MIDI you need to go Pa2 Global: MIDI :Midi In Control page and set Chord 1 (or 2) MIDI Channel to MIDI channel that actually sends notes to your Pa2.

When set uop this way it does not matter which chord recognition mode you use, Pa2 acts exactly as you were playing its own keys.

Thanks Alland for double checking this!

However, I was too anxious to wait for a response since my last post. Therefore, I actually used the midiox diagnostic sw tool which allowed me to monitor and control midi messages. Also, simulated an external midi keyboard using this software. So after playing around with global setting and sending the appropriate midi messages, eventually I got it working.

However, thanks again for your efforts!!

PS: if ever you have any midi problems or like to simulate a midi device I recommend MIDIOX. It's free on the web and it's an excellent tool for debugging

I try again to post my problem in this old thread that discuss the midi issue in pa2x. If a connect my pa2x to a midi keyboard can I play piano and e-piano sound of the pa2x on the master keyboard and at the same time other sound, like organs and synths on the Pa2x slave?

I hooked midi out in the master and midi in in the pa2x. the master sends midi messages through channel 1 (default). I set up the midi in the pa2x as "Master". now I want the 2 keyboards to play 2 different sounds at the same time, is it possible? I ask because if I select an upper 1 sound I can play it with the master but it remains in the pa2x as well, if I mute in the pa2x I cannot play it with the master....
thanks, Simone
