The Doors

Post by AlbertoGL »

Hello to everyone, I just bought a Korg Oasys 88!! :D but after a day of searching up and down, I can't find a good preset to play songs from The Doors, I would also like do make a split Rhodes Bass/Vox Continental like.

So far the Oasys has been very confusing for me, I couldn't even find a normal Grand Piano, but found lots of E. Pianos, and the interfase is so full of things that it really overwhelms you.

One last question, I notice a smell like hot plastic or something when the Oasys' been on for some time, is that normal? I ask this cause the shippers werent careful enough and the Oasys got hit near the power swith, it's dented in that area.

Thanks for any help you can give me, and sorry if I'm asking too much, but it's just that I'm completely lost.

Not sure about The Doors presets thing, but I would say that the smell of hot plastic is definitely NOT normal. I would strongly suggest you claim against the shippers for damage and if it is new try and get it replaced or at least have it looked at by Korg.

Yep - Oasys doesn't stink!

As for sounds: use browsing by category - there are many Grand Pianos, E-Pianos etc.

Browsing by category? I don't know how to do that

About the plastic smell, it's ver light, and well it's not like something's burning, it kinda reminds me of my old videogames, like when the laptop's power brick is hot? something like that, and it's coming from the left vent.

Approaching a new system can be confusing sometimes, I understand!

I'd suggest reading "Playing Programs and Combinations" on page 1 of the Operation Guide (latest version E5, available as a download from www.korguser.net/oasys). That section explains about browsing by category, among other useful tidbits.

Look at this link to the virtual interface and wait for the screen to come up:

http://www.korg.com/services/products/o ... l_GUI.html

The "category" is the little box above the name of the program or combi. In this case, "LeadSplits". Press that little LeadSplits' box and you can search by category. This COMBI mode is where you will find split and layered sounds.

Press the PROGRAM button, above your jog wheel and the programs will have this "category" box. Program mode is tailored to individual sounds/instruments. Press it, then select KEYBOARD on the left side of the screen. When you do that, you will then see sub-categories of keyboards - A.PIANO (acoustic piano), SYNTH E. PIANO, etc.

I made a combi for doing this. I will work on getting it off my Oasys and onto this message board.

Hi Ryan,

I look forward to hearing your Doors Combi(s). Have developed a couple of sounds for Doors songs too, one for Light My Fire and one for Love Me Two Times. I will gladly share those with you.
Regards,
Dean.
