Hello all,
I am trying to trigger a sequence (song) via one key on the keyboard. It has to be a key on the keyboard to start the sequence because I'm using midi to trigger a loop on a roland drum machine (both the sequence and the loop on the drum machine need to be started by keyboard...bottom C probably).

I know it is possible to trigger a pattern or "RPPR" but they are too short (seems to be only 1 measure long...btw, can you make the RPPR patterns longer? 1 measure isn't long enough) How can I program the keyboard to trigger a sequence via a key?

Ok, after reading the manual some more, I have figured out how to change the length of the RPPR. It is under "UTILITY>PATTERN PARAM." So I think I can probably make this work that way...as long as I can make the "pattern" (which is really gonna be a sequence) long enough, looks like 99 measures might be the limit. Any other info, please let me know though...

On a related note, does anyone know how to import a .mid file (or other sequence file) and convert it to a RPPR? I want to make the sequence on my computer in Sonar and then save it as a midi file on my SD card and import it on the TR, as opposed to sequencing it out on the TR (which is a pain in the A$$) Thanks in advance!

You can import and play MIDI files on the TR but I don't really know that you can load them to act as a RPPR pattern.
I've done all mine manually, and it's easier if you do it on your PC first and copy it to the TR by seeing notes on your display

I'm not sure what you mean, could you explain this process please?

I do all the sequencing on my PC, software based. It's much more fun, easier to use, and easier to correct the mistakes, or create the pattern you like.
When you're done, open the pattern editor on the TR, play the notes you see on screen of your PC on your TR and save it. You can use it later on.
The process is described in TR's manual.

It's nothing special, really, but only my way of doing it. Create on PC, retype on TR. Double check fool-proof system that never fails
