Absolute Electribe Kaoss

Does anyone use a Kaoss pad on two or more electribes.. and then perhaps one when the final sound is mixed together? So it would be eg EMX+Kaoss, ESX+Kaoss EA1+Kaoss all into a mixer then all into another Kaoss. What is it / would it be like? I was thinking about investing in this but I'm not sure if it would be a hit or a mess.

I would imagine it would sound just 'orrible - but then again, I'm not a big fan of the Kaoss sound so you should just ignore this

well, it totally depends what effects you would be doing with it... I can't imagine it being particularly useful, unless there was two of you in the band.. even still how many sweeps/etc does anyone need?

Well, part of my setup, is emx to esx to kp3, and it works for me, (it rhymes too  )

But i think i can see your point here, with more kp units you have more routing possibilities, like only synth or drums to one kp, or/and indiv. out 2&3 to another kp etc.

For me the kp3 goes beyond an effect unit. You can drastically alter a sound with it.

And don't forget the hold and pad motion functions of the kp3. Very useful in this situation, especialy the hold.

Well i say, try one first to see if it suits your needs, and if money is no problem then go for it. Just don't let me know cause i saved my xxx just to buy one of it

... of all the effects combinations, kp3>kp2 it is my favorite... kp2 after kp3 allows you to take advantage of looping more frequently from the kp3, and use the delays and filters on the kp2 to fatten the bitcrushing and lfo type effects from the kp3. I always use pre sends on my mixers to maximize this type of routing, and I am currently using three mixers in my setup to accomplish this, mainly to fold effects back to each other. I used to route the kp's separately, but found two in a row just added to the fun. Of course, i am into mangling sound, air, and improv electronic mayhem, so factor that in and take a listen before you apply my effects theory.

What you really need is a mixer that has at least one pre send....

not that you care, but i am all about effects paths....

any of my sound producing instruments (esx, emx, sh32, handsonic {from my partner in crime's audio}, airsynth, or other) can be routed through 1 of 4 effects matrices (1: kp3>kp2 2: wmd geiger counter>microsynth 3: boss sl-20>roland ef303>fatman stereo tube comp>alesis gate>line 6 m13 4: voicebox>vp70...) in addition, any effect route can be routed to the others (1 to 2, 4 to 1 to 2, etc.) just so long as I don't forget to watch out for feedback paths... although feedback through pitch shifters & delays? good times, good times.

The pads are a great compliment to the electribes... I have no fear of disappointment from them.

Aha! I've done it and it's great. My ESX and EMX have a Kaoss Pad 2 each. Imagine what fun you can have... then multiply that by a large number. Try it!
