hi i am really confused!!! :?

on the instruction manual (page 64) it says i can connect the R3 to another keyboard through a midi cable.
1. does this mean i can play on the other keyboard sounds off the R3
2. and wouldnt i have to go... R3 [midi out] --> other keyboard [midi in], instead of it being the opposite way, which is shown in the instruction manual!

please help me!!! :3dangel:

Hi alex,

if you connect the ok's (other keybord) midi out to the R3's midi in, the R3 will sound the notes you play in the ok and both will sound (provided the ok has voices).
If you connect th R3's midi out to the ok's midi in, then what you play on your R3 will activate the sounds in the ok. In both cases both synths will sound but only if both are set to accept midi data. In other words, the keyboard whose midi out is connected is the master keyboard.

Yeah,
it is important to understand that you are not transferring the R3's sounds to the Other Keyboard, rather you are sending the performance (notes, program change, controls etc - these are the kinds of messages that mke up MIDI. It is a performance/control interface, not any kind of sound, just information) from the other keyboard to the R3, which responds to them.

So hooking the audio out for example on the Other Keyboard, you won't hear the R3. you'd have to hook audio connections to the R3 to hear it.
