Radias USB Cubase issue

Hello,

I have used the Radias over good ol' midi for the last months but I am now encountering problems when I'm attempting to use it over USB. I have installed the USB MIDI driver (Windows 1.11) and the sound editor (Windows 2.00) that came with the synth.

The Synth appears in Windows, with the appropriate Korg Inc driver. However, Cubase 4 is not able to see the Radias as a Midi device, it won't appear in the device manager list. So far, that sounds like a Cubase problem, but when I tried to update the driver to version 2.0, I'm getting an error: 'update device is not found'.

I've reinstalled the driver a few times and have taken care that it all happens over the same USB-port. No change however. Anyone has a clue?

Thanks in advance & regards,

Pieter

just running the installer for the driver is not enough - you have to run the utility it puts in start > programs > KORG > USB MIDI Driver > Install KORG USB MIDI Device

this will associate the driver with the radias, otherwise windows tries to use its own drivers which don't actually work.

Thanks for your reply. I assume you mean the CPLRUN-file in the KORG USB-midi Driver directory. I tried that, but it makes no difference. My platform is Vista BTW...

You assume wrong.

The file is EzSetup.exe, which is named "Install KORG USB-MIDI Device."

You may also need to run UnInstDrv.exe to look at your midi port configuration and to delete bad, old, unused, midi ports on your system, then run the EzSetup.exe again to install the hardware in the driver list.

That fixed it, thanks! I had already correctly installed the Korg-driver but it turned out that there was a corrupted midi port spoiling the fun. Thanks for your help!

You're welcome and I'm glad you got it going.
