I want to buy a midi interface to link the Korg Triton LE to the laptop to both record music and link up to software to create some new sounds. What interface would you recommend buying. I was told the Tascam us122.

Also where is best place to buy software music so can create new sounds. Can these be saved back onto the Triton?

The 122 is both an audio and MIDI interface.

so if you want to record using the triton's sounds, that is right. However if you are only interested in controlling softsynths and MIDI (and don't need high quality audio in or out), then something like the E-MU MIDI 1x1 or 2x2 would do.

MIDI is NOT audio. it is data on which keys you hit and which controls you adjust, etc, but there is no way to get your synth's sound into a computer purely by MIDI. So the Tascam is probably okay if you are wanting to record.
