Getting an M50 in the mail...

I have a store demo M50 coming in the mail, and I'd like to ask a couple questions.
-I'm assuming it won't have the lastest OS, so do I need to download all of the OS's individually up to 1.1.0, or does just updating to 1.1.0 cover all of the past updates also?
-What exactly is "MS-DOS" and how can my SD card be formatted that way?
-Is there a way to restore factory defaults? (this is a yes or no, I'll figure it out when I get the board)
And just in case you're wondering, why did I buy a store demo? I'm in high school and I'll take a couple hundred bucks off for a scratch or two. Much thanks in advance.

The "latest" OS has been out for about a year so it MAY have the latest.
You can do a full system restore to factory default in Global mode I believe. Wherever it is, it's a matter of selecting the command and hitting yes twice. VERY easy.
Which did you get : 61, 73, or 88?

Thanks! I got the 61 key version. I've heard the complaints about the keys themselves but I've worked with a $200 yamaha for a couple years, I imagine the M50's keys would be a step up at least.

I have the M3, M50, and Triton as well as some much older stuff. The Triton has the best keys I've ever used (yamaha keybed). The M3 keys are close to the Triton's but I don't like the finish and my fingers slip off during really fast runs. The M50 keys on the other hand I actually really like. They are very fast and are much, much better than the keys on the older gear I have.
It's true, some people don't like 'em. I really like 'em. I wouldn't worry about the keys at all...

The default formatting of the SD card should be fine, but don't try to use a card larger than 2 GB.

I'm glad someone else said it first. Anyone remember floppy disks? LP records?

I briefly had a SAMPLER that used 5 1/4 floppies (E-mu Emulator II). And I had a PC that used 8" floppies.
And I didn't think I was that old.

I even remember punched tape and mainframes... Yikes.
And I still have several LPs, and yes they do sound better than CDs (and of course better than MP3s).
Note though that MIDI was invented before the 1.44M floppy disk, yet is still live and kicking.

And to enlighten the OP, MS-DOS stands for MicroSoft Disk Operating System. The great great great grandad of xp, vista and 7.
Abot the formatting of your SD, well itsays Ms-dos since that OS used Fat16, and is the minimum format you should use. I've been using FAT32 with no issues.
BTW, FAT means File Allocation Table, a standard file scheme used back in Ms-dos days.
