Upgrade x50 to m50?

I bought a x50 just for about half a year. But now I need one more keyboard which is a higher model than x50.(have to use 2 of them at the same time)
I would like to know whether m50 would be a good synth to part with x50.
Or are there any others better combination?
I tried m50 in the store and it feels quite good, but the salesman suggested me not to buy it becoz i have already got a x50. He said they are too similar.
I play heavy metal and symphonic stuff. Mostly I use strings, pianos, organs, synth lead, choir pads...etc.
So should I purchase a m50 in this situation? Thanks a lot!!

If you do purely need strings, choir, pads, etc. Then another ROMpler like the M50 would be fine for you.

I presume the salesman was saying it is not a good idea because you are just getting more of the same thing, whereas a VA synth would be more complimentary because it is a different form of synthesis so you are getting some different sounds. But if you don't need that, then don't let the salesman get to you - they often don't know anything anyway!

You may even find yourself using the M50 more than the X50. The M50 has a lot of improvements, being more like the TR with a sequencer mode rather than multi mode (but you can still use SEQ like a multi), and a newer, more hi-def sound engine. I think you'd be able to cut through a lot more over those low guitars using the enhanced high-end of the M50 sounds.

Also, it has the full 5 IFX whereas the X50 has one. Having five is great for combi mode, and you could for example create a different combi for each of your songs on the M50, and simply use the X50 as a controller to control additional timbres in your M50's combis. This would be a lot easier to set up too with the touchscreen.

I had both!
The sounds of the X50 are MUCH better than the M50!
Most the strings sounds are better!
The bilding of the M50 is better, the knobs on the X50 are very tin and weak... :!:

I sales both......I'm looking for the Kurzweil PC3 LE61
:)

greetings,

I have a Triton LE with the same sound engine as the x-50 as well as an M50 and aside from some of the orchestral patches, the M50 wins hands down. The 5 insert effects and the crispness of the upper register are fantastic. The touch screen is the huge trump card as navigating around on the M50 is a breeze.

I definitely agree with this! I used to own an X50 and there were many sounds and combis that I really liked but when it came to sound design and sound editing, the x50 was a pain to work with.
Furthermore, I was never quite happy with not having a sequencer/drumtrack and RPPR functionality. So buying the M50 will considerably expand your production arsenal. On the other hand, you might want to consider adding an alternative sound engine to your setup (Roland, Yamaha, Kurzweil ...) which all offer instruments featuring a sequencer in the same price range as the M50. If you are not interested in getting a hardware on-board sequencer, I would recommend getting a VA-Synth (like the Korg Radias) to give you an even wider range of synth sounds.
