Error in formatting medium

Hoping that someone in here may help me with an issue with my Korg Trinity.
Whenever I try and format using the floppy drive, the light turns on and it makes some noise, but then I get this error message.
"Error in formatting medium".
A repair guy said that is may be a corrupt sysex or corrupt os, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Will rebooting the factory settings help?
Thanks much!

Your friend is wrong.
Your problem is:
- Bad diskette
- Bad drive
Have you tried other disk???
Have you tried the same disk on a pc or on another trinity???
Good Luck

Error in formatting medium

I share your problem. I had the added problem of suddenly not being able to load any of the 50 floppy disks I have used since 1996. I own two Trinity boards and both are in pristine condition, both had same response when trying to load songs/programs. I tried to format a new disk and got the error message you did as well. I feared all my disks were blank, until I loaded them into my pc and saw data on them. I copied the files to 50 folders and hope now I can resolve the issue and work with them again. Years of songs unfinished are now hanging in the balance! I wondered if there was a glitch in the operating system of one keyboard, but to see the identical problem on both (especially considering the second Trinity is a creampuff, hardly used). Could it be something that has elapsed that was time sensitive? SOS, my friends!

Can i suggest something???
Hurry, copy those 50 folders on 3 or more locations.
I've lost 10 years of work, since i put the files on the pc, while buying fresh disks. When i went to copy the files back, a short circuit damaged my hard disk.
Good luck.

I did copy them to multi media and only hope that it is a case of dirty drives. I had not used the machines in about a year and it would seem strange that both would render the same error messages. I could not format new disks either on both machines. I bought new floppy disks yesterday and hoped to format and copy the files over to the new disks. Seeing the "format error medium" message at least gave me hope that if I clean the drives, they may work. I had to order a floppy drive cleaning disk online, as it is impossible to find them anymore in stores, it seems.
Thanks for the well wishes and advice.

Hi my name is Nasos and i am from GREECE
I had recently this problem.
My trinity plus is been kept as new since 1995 when i first bought it,
so when i tried after some years to load a disk i noticed this error.
tried other disks but nothing happened,
try them on my pc...,
cleaned the drive with a cleaning kit...
all returned nothing...
so i decided to buy a new floppy disk drive.
Cost me about 4 euro and 30 minutes off my time to replace it...
I am thinking of buying some extra floppy disk drives for the future since trinity sounds cant be replaced from any other new synth.
Trinity Hard Drive Problem

After much mystery, the problem was exactly the same as yours, and the sloution as well. I took both Trinity boards I own to a Korg repair shop. It seemed that simply time and possibly weather conditions and storage conditions (i.e. humidity, dryness, etc.) simply took a toll on the drives. At first I was concerned they would not be able to find drives for the original Trinity boards but to my delight, both were replaced and are working fine.
I was glad my floppy disks were not erased. I am now transfering 14 years of song data to a DAW so I can finally finish material. I regret never getting the SCSI port or digital outputs installed as an option but at least I am having success with using the drive. I was told a bulk dump could be achieved through a sysex/midi function but I have not looked into it yet.
Thanks for responding and best wishes
