Tranfering Ms2000 patches to Korg R3

Post by laikenf »

What' up guys. I just purchased an R3 so that I can use in live performances instead of the MS2000, it's way more portable plus the split function and the mod sequencer is something I use very often (the microkorg lacks both). But I need to find a way to transfer my MS2000 patches to the R3; how can I accomplish this (if it's even possible)? Is MIDI dump the way to go? I've never done any MIDI dump with any of my gear but I can't think of any other method I can get this done with. Thanks to all in advance.

I'm fairly certain you'll need to manually recreate all your patches. Even going from the MK XL or Radias to the R3 (which all use the same engine) you must manually recreate your patches.
Current: MS-20 Mini, Minilogue, SY77
Past: Korg R3, Volca Bass, X50, Mg Slim Phatty, Rld Gaia SH-01, Yamaha TX81Z

Yeah, that's what I thought. Although I don't really see it as a bad thing as this gives me the chance to dig deep into the R3 while I try to enhance the patches I recreate with all those extra goodies  . But it would be nice because of the time it could save me.
