"Unformatted" message on formatted disks

HELP! To my horror, I popped in a floppy that I know was not damaged, that contained songs I previously worked on, only to hear the Trinity drive humming longer than normal, ending with the message "Unformatted".
I tried another disk, and then several more, but kept getting the same message. I took out a second Trinity I keep for a spare, one that has had little use, and got the same message..."unformatted". I feared the disks were somehow erased by some magnetic field, but when I placed them in my PC, I could see the files present, even though they could not be opened by any program I have.
After backing all 50 floppy disks to my PC, I am now faced with the task of finding out why I can't load my songs or programs. Also, I tried formatting a floppy to see if at least that would work but kept getting "Error Format Medium" message.
Has anyone had this problem? I am desperate. I have taken care of both Trinity keyboards very well since buying them in 1996. I find it odd that both would render the same error messages and display troubles.
I appreciate any help!
