SysEx stuff...

In the parameter guide its written that a complete midi implementation chart (including SysEx information) can be obtained if we contact our national Korg distributor.

So I called my Canadian supplier and he replied to that it doesn't exist : " I think what happened is that KORG had planned to create an extensive chart but it never happened.. perhaps due to lack of demand".

Well, thats what he THINKS, I was wondering if anyone at Korg KNEW anything about this.

I know I can "catch" midi SysEx and then use this information to set the SysEx controlled parameters , but it would be nice to have a nice pdf where I could CTRL+F stuff.

Thanks

bump bump...

I don't really care if its a .txt file in über-ugly Courrier New.

Anything is better than nothing, I'm assuming that the tech guys who programmed the O probably dumped all the SysEx (bad pun) specs in some sort of reference file.

Starting to feel like a monologe here...

I'm quite the stubborn fellow. I know there has to be someone, somewhere who has access to some sort of SysEx chart. I can't possibly imagine that Stephen Kay programmed Karma Oasys without having somekind of chart as a reference guide.

Anyone ?

I don't think it exists as a document either.
I've memories of many people here asking for the documentation over the years and nobody ever getting it.

Sharp.

... and it would be such an awesome thing to have a OASYS VST plugin so we can use it interactively with our sequencers... oh, the fond memories of million different occasions when I mentioned this... directly related to the no-midi-implementation-chart thing... although, I would love to make a plugin that would at least be able to control faders and knobs at least... and no, I don't want to record MIDI/sysx responses from the OASYS for that...

Although its not quite a VST plugin, but one of our forum members here, Anashwaran, created a couple of MIDI Device Panels that work very well. Definately worth trying those out if you want more interaction from within your sequencer, although I guess these will only work with Cubase.

here is the link to the panels and some sysex info which is in excel format.

Also here is a link to a some youtube videos that Anashwaran did to show the panels in use.

Hope that info helps some, and thanks again to Anashwaran for his efforts.

But yes that would have been so handy to have had a fully implemented VST plugin for OASYS, which I believe the M3 has and another sore point that many of us OASYS users feel Korg missed us out...but that is another story :)

Cheers

Dear t-tangent,
Thanks for your posting (and your appreciation).
The SysEx list I have published is quite complete, because not all functions can be manipulated like this (by Midi etc...)
They also do not send SysEx messages, which is easy to controle by Midi-Ox.
The only one who knows all of it I guess is Stephen, because he had to use it on his programmation for Karma and the Editor.
Best greetings
Anashwaran

Hi Anashwaran,

Thanks for the thanks, but credit where credit is due :) Your Cubase Device Panel does come in very handy and I know how long it takes to build them as I spent a few weeks trying to build one for my Quasimidi Polymorph which I only got half way with before I gave up. Will perhaps try again sometime.

It would be nice if Korg would release all the sysex info, especially since now they are no longer supporting the O and this would give us users at least an opportunity to do something ourselves, but then again I think that is part of the problem that Daz experienced, so I won't go there.

Anyways, thanks again :)

Hi,

Detailed sysex documentation does exist for the Oasys. I would suggest that you contact Dan Phillips privately at Korg USA.

The documentation is not widely available and not for sharing and can only be released by Korg to the potential user.

My experience is that Korg are a really helpful company.

Cheers
