Post by benfiltraitor »

when i go onto the user banks on the m3 to create a combination from scratch, after adding more than one programs to the combination, only the first one actually makes sound.

is there something i need to do to make all of the sounds work?

Have you been to Karma Lab Forums yet? Check out the Premium Content videos. They walk you through building M3 combis step by step.

Hope that helps.

To help you along a little quicker than reading all of that, just hit page select, and go to Track Param, then change whatever tracks you want to hear to 01G. (I think that's what it is). It's the one with the G in it. Then you should hear sound.

Go to Karma Labs and look at the free videos for house 101 tutorial, you don't need to go premium content unless you want to take the house 101 further.

Saying that I'm going to go premium for a while cus it's about time I got to use this beast properly.

Unless he wants to just layer programs to all sound simultaneously without KARMA GE's etc, it's not that simple. By the way, if he so decides, he'd be viewing videos, not reading content. Just to underscore the complexity of constructing fully KARMA-fied combinations, currently there are 38 video chapters with more to follow. These premium content videos provide a wealth of audio-visual instructions that you just cannot get from reading manuals or posts in forums.
Scott Raposa, one of Karma-lab's well know combi designers, is the presenter in these excellent videos. He has meticulously presented step-by-step procedures in a series of chapters that build on previous ones. Anyone who is serious about designing M3 Combinations, should definitely plug into a subscription.

I've said this before in other places too, but if you are planning on ever sharing your patches (or just for good practise), use the G channel.

01G simply means that you are specifically choosing channel 1, which just happens to be the global channel at that time.

If for any reason you wanted to change the global channel to 02, or you wanted to share the patch with someone who is using a different global channel, then channel 1 would just appear as '01' and then you would have '02G' or '03G' or whatever they are using. Then your combi wouldn't work because it is triggering the global channel but no timbres are selected.

If you scroll on past 16 you'll find a 'G' option, which means that channel will always be triggered from the global channel, whatever that may be.

I think the init combis are set up with 01 to 16 so that you can use them for multitimbral work with a sequencer or such, just for convenience, but it isn't a good way to go about making a patch.

This first came to light with my Radias Rack with the Artist programs that were made available with the V2.0 update. A lot of them were specifically programmed to channel 1, whereas I was using my rack as a module triggered from channel 2, so a lot of the programs made no sound.
