squirly emx-1?

Post by Propaganda85 »

I'm new to the emx, and i made my first song with it but i'm have a regular series of problems let me describe:

Quite often, I'll be tweaking something and everything starts to go squirly--drive will change..level..depth, res, cutoff...everything. Ok not a rocket scientist here but this unit is bad!

Question has this type of thing happened before? Is it endemic to the emx-1?

Also regarding the global settings to the smart media card, I "have tried" to save 3 patterns that I've made. It seems to have saved them. However, when I try and send them back to say for instance D45 it always fails to load from the media card and loads Pattern 1 from the unit itself!!!

In the manual, page 77 ["Loading all data from SmartMedia into the EMX-1"]. STEP 7 top of page 78: ["The Parameter display will ask 'sure?' and the value display will read "no" Turn the dial to change this to 'yes'. and press key 13 to execute the load operation. While the data is being loaded, the step keys will indicate the state of progress. When loading is completed, the emx-1 will enter pattern mode with A01 selected."]

now, wtf? i did that and it loads pattern 1!!!! HOLD IT!, I thought that I was loading my pattern off of the smart media card back into the emx!

Have I missed something here? Or is this a typo or is my machine just a bugger.

I'll buy another if I have to, but maybe it needs a system reset...I bought this one off of ebay. :(

btw I turned memory protect off.

how are you saving your patterns?

if you save an individual pattern I think you need to load 1Ptrn (not All) otherwise you load something else other than what you saved

basically, make sure you load the same file as you saved

Thanks for responding:

Saving a pattern as described in the manual: shift 13, named the file all that...shift 13 to finalize.

I tried that, but it still won't load (actually it did once, but it won't load the other patterns I saved)
