gigging with the radias?

iv just done my frist gig with the rad and found it to be deep and sonic sounding synth the sound tec said he wanted some p.a. left at the end of the nigth. which is a testement to the sound quilty of the radias. plus i was using kp3 which just worked perfect in combonation with the radias, sounded fat. the resampling on that thing is ace! the step seq stood up well as the main clock and kept it tigth with the kp3 midi'd up. as a solo venture it went well with a rich plate of sound under my belt with the radias and the sound editer realy works well when setting up for a gig getting all your patchs sorted and being able to back them up. i played live techno which a mad up on the spot from scratch which seem to produce some intresting effects and sound design. i found it to be very rewarding to be free from structure and enjoyed it deeply.

would like to now if any other users gig aswell and how have thay found it?

I've gigged with the radias in dance/rock band but not heard much about it either way. It worked nicely and I can get some great sounds out of it.

The band split up and I'm now working with the singer and a new guitarist to make some much more electronic music.
I'm also using a KARMA and an ES-1, and I think I'll be very much providing the bulk of the sound for most of the songs, so it'll be interesting to see how that holds up basically being the centre piece of the music.

I think I need another Radias! I don't like the idea of replacing sounds with similar sounds from the KARMA when I don't have enough parts.

I have heard comments before on how fat some of the sounds were. We used to open with a song that used a massive pulsing bassline and some modulating cutoff. Similarly on the high end the sound engineer asked me if I could turn down the high EQ on one of my lead sounds. That was disappointing though because it didn't cut so well.

So you "freestyled" a whole show  With just a radias and kp3
Was the show by any chance recorded on video?

Hi
I had some gigs with the R3 and I missed more knobs... a sequencer... an envelope follower... 4 outputs... 4 timbres... more knobs again... I used to prepare the sound at home and how I'd mod it, but now I will have more choices that I can choose as I prefer in the moment.

Tomorrow arrive my upgrade to the Radias!!! When I do a gig you'll know how I feel it.

Bye!!

you know, I totally support that. :)

As soon as the SD Electribes hit, I'm picking up the EMX1. I just love having a step sequencer with endless potential. I wish Korg had just added sampling to the EMX1 instead of making the EMX and ESX so different.

Yup, my Radias has travelled a lot over the past 4 years. I like it more now than when I first got it. It is usually the first synth I look to when writing, it sits so well in the mix which for me is important. Looking fwd to hearing your work! I just ordered a drum machine - always used the real thing so I went with a Zoom rt 223 as it is simple to use from what ppl. have told me, I can always upgrade later or pick up an iPad and add the EMX to it.

HI Guys ,
So you have taken the Radias out on the road.
Did any of you have it midi ed up anyway, pc, mpc, or just on its own.
cheers

I have everything "MIDI'ed up", through a MIDI patchbay (MOTU MIDI TimePiece MK II).
I have it set up so that when designing patches, I can set any timbre on any synth to respond to any keyboard.... And again there is a mini-KP which is hooked to the Aux bus on my mixer, so I can assign any sound module through to it...

You can see that setup here:

I'm playing the Radias from the Yamaha QS300's keyboard, despite the fact that it is the Virus in front of me.

Currently I'm going further than that though, controlling it with KARMA and RPPR. I'll be sure to post more on that when I've spent some more time with it.

Ive been taking the same Radias on the road for almost 4 years now. The only problem I have had with it was the screen protector came off one night at a show and I lost it. Other than that it has been a very sturdy keyboard and I tend to give my stuff hell when I'm on stage.

I took the Radias to a rehearsal last night for the first time. Originally I just wanted to show a friend some vintage sounds it could produce, but I ended up playing the Radias the whole time. It sounded fantastic through the sound system--the band leader even commented on how well it fit in the mix.

It's going to accompany me more often now!
