HELP! Problem hooking up Fast Track Pro to MicroKORG

For some reason I can seem to hookup my MicroKORG to my FTP. I can not figure out what the problem is. I have the USB plugged in, SLR cables hooked up for both INPUT and OUTPUT. I've changed the setting in my computer. My computer recognizes the FCP, but FCP does not recognize the Korg. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?? Any suggestions??
All help is greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by SLR cables?
I see you've connected the MIDI 5-Pin DIN cables from the microKorg to the FastTrack Pro. What are you trying to achieve exactly?
You won't get any audio with a MIDI connection. MIDI is for using your microKorg as a controller, or controlling your microKorg with your sequencer or other gear. It sends information about what notes are hit, how hard, which controller you adjust, etc.
Also, MIDI just transmits data, it has no handshaking protocol, or anything. It is very robust. What this does mean is that devices transmit and receive MIDI regardless of whether anything is even plugged in! so your computer will never 'recognise' the microKorg. You won't see anything where you can select the MK as an option, because it doesn't know nor care that it's there. Unless you set something up in your DAW which you can do sometimes, but that's just you putting a name to something.
So if you want to use the MK via MIDI then you've got to just select the FTP's MIDI input in your DAW when recording a MIDI track or setting up a sofsynth or whatever. And select the FTP's output when you want to control the MK.
To record and hear the sounds from the microKorg, you've got to have something hooked up to its audio outputs, whether that's L/Mono and R to the FTP's 1 & 2 inputs, or whether you've just got headphones in so that you can listen to it when playing/sequencing it.

Why?
why?
why?
I told you not to buy the FTP!
anyways, for sound you'll need to buy 1/4' guitar cables and hook them from your microkorg to the two inputs on the front.

the Fast Track Pro is probably a better choice IMHO, but if you want to keep mobility, the transit would be better.
At first you told me it was the best choice. Even after I brought up the bad reviews on the FTP you told me there were more positive than negative and that it works great with Macs... by the time you made the post not to purchase, I had already bought it amazon! Are there really some better interface options out there?
Thank you for the help on the correct cables to purchase!
Also please -

Also - Can someone PLEASE post a photo of what the correct cables look like. I want to make sure I purchase the correct ones. Obviously the people at Guitar Center don't know their s**t, b/c when I explained to the man what I was looking to do he handed me these MIDI cables.

Just tell them you want two "quarter inch jack cables". They're the same as what you'd use for a guitar, although generally with synths you can get away with the cheaper variety because generally you don't have to worry about it becoming unplugged accidentally.

I purchased the 1/4 jack cables but I'm still experiencing a bit of trouble in hooking up. Please tell me if this looks correct.

its incorrect. i said the front lol... don't worry i hooked it up wrong just like u at first
in the center of holes 1 and 2 on the front.
it says '1' and '2' and mic/inst underneath.
make sure to set the inputs to line
dude when i said it had dropouts you said u hadn't ordered, ah well.
the ftp is theoretically the best interface for its price.... but the dropouts were annoying, however since upgrading my mac to the latest OS and drivers ive had none.
btw u can keep ur midi DINS in to use MIDI

while i agree with the fact that GC people don't know s**t, he may have confused if you said something like playing a keyboard with a computer lol. MIDI cables are used to have your MK play computer instruments, or have your computer play your MK.
