padKontrol Tutorials

Hey, so I really don't mean to come off as a total noob when it comes to using the padKontrol, but after buying it I've noticed a huge lack of information about it across the internet regarding its use and all that...
This is my first midicontroller, and considering I'm used to very obvious programming, like my microkorg, I'm pretty lost. I've read the manual several times over and can't quite figure how to do things such as have a sample trigger but when triggered again have it start from the beginning of the sample rather than play it another time simultaneously, or how to make the pads effect triggers, or how to assign effects to the knobs, or how to cut samples and assign the different sections to the pads easily.
Currently I'm just using the FPC in Fruity Loops with my padKontrol; easy enough, all I have to do is assign different samples to different pads and i have a semi shitty song. Also any suggestions for what programs to use would be great: I know a lot of people use Live, but no one really says why or what the advantages are. I was just wondering if there were any tips/tutorials anyone wanted to share, considering there aren't really to be found (as far as I've searched).
basically.... post your tuts!
Thanks
