R3 Preset sounds....

Post by purple_mf »

Hi, im a bit of a noob, and iv just purchased the R3. Should recieve it in next few days.

i Have a question, i have been reading that the presets are not that good and the patches available, particularly the MS2000 and microKorg factory Programs converted by Matt Cassini available in the downloads section help to make richer, warmer synth.

The question i have is this... are these patches improvements of the default presets or are they completely different sounds? I want to play around with the presets to start with as im not (yet) a hardcore anologue synthophile, but im just curious as to what they do to the original sounds...

they're not based on the default R3 presets nor necessarily improvements. Even though they may have the exact parameters of the MS2K/MK, they sound warmer than the R3 simply due to their structure.

they were created from an initial program patch (shift+2) and then had values programmed in exactly as they were on the MS2K/MK (I believe).
