i dont understand the technical details of the allegation but i know this, if anyone makes an allegation about someone where their intention is to name and shame then they should identify themselves FIRSTand not hide behind a camera on youtube.
He won't do that because he sells sounds for KORG Keyboards and others and doesn't want his actions to effect his own business.
I could name and shame him right now if I wanted to. A whois on his domain name will even give you his home address.
The whole thing stinks to me. How do we even know that the samples he is playing in the video are either sharps sampled piano or even a yamaha sampled piano.
He's very likely using a midi cable to fake this, but it makes no difference either way. Even if the video was genuinely showing you Yamaha Motif Piano VS mine, they would still share lots of similarities.
Simply ask yourself what would happened if you sent two engineers off in two different directions. Both had the task of sampling the same make and model of instrument. When they return you then compare their work.
Obviously they are going to sound alike. If the didn't then the manufacture who made the instrument didn't do their job right.
Here's a little twist though and why the subject of sampling will never be straight forward and also why this guys crusade is utterly pointless even if I had of broken the law as he describes.
Ok so above I've explained how two different recording sessions of sampling can be very similar. Now ask yourself, what gives these two people the right to freely take the sound from the instrument they are sampling, and after they do this, what gives them the right to think their sound is now protected from the exact same thing from happening to them.
I know, this will mess with your head but the fact is, nobody pays royalty fees on sampling sounds from other instruments and when you buy your next Yamaha it will be full of sounds freely taken from a Moog, every walk of synth, B3, Rhodes, E-Pianos, Pianos, Guitars, and every other instrument imaginable.
So who's robbing who ?
Yamaha samples away freely of anything they like and what... nobody is allowed to sample the Yamaha according to this guy?
Why ? It's not a question I expect an answer to. Just want to get you guys thinking about the big picture here.
